Day Zero-Waste Sorter- 7:30 am to 4:00 pm (approximately)
Event Zero-Waste Sorter - 5:00 pm to 10:00 pm (approximately)
Night Zero-Waste Sorter - 11:00 pm to 6:00 am (approximately)
Pay Range - $20.99 - $21.25 an hour
BASIC FUNCTION
Pritchard Sports & Entertainment Group is hiring Zero-Waste Sorters. As the Zero-Waste Sorter you are responsible for collecting, sorting, and disposing of waste generated in the Arena. The Arena is a zero-waste venue, and the Zero-Waste Sorter is responsible for ensuring this. We need Sorters that are in alignment with the Arenas zero-waste vision.
ORGANIZATIONAL RELATIONSHIP
The Zero-Waste Sorter reports to the Zero-Waste Manager.
SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES AND OBJECTIVES
- Remove trash, recyclables, and compost from all areas of the stadium and site perimeter.

Adhere to sustainability/recycling procedures

The collection team gradually transports Arena waste to the sorting area as they make their rounds. Typically, there will be a consistent stream of trash bags to sort throughout the assigned shift.

Separate items into their various streams: (1) landfill, (2) compostables (food/drink, food packaging, cutlery, etc.), (3) bottles and cans, (4) cardboard, (5) mixed paper, (6) glass, and so on.

New hires will learn the process during their training.

The sorting team must open every item within every trash bag before separating waste items into the various streams. Fans tend to consolidate all their trash into a bag or a box.

Each shift is responsible for completing a mandatory checklist before team members leave.

After each event, the waste is hauled to several different places depending on the stream (e.g., compost, recyclables, landfill, etc.). The Arena receives feedback on the amount of contamination within each haul.
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
- Must have recycling and landfill experience.

Must go through zero-waste training by the Arena and get certified before working an event.

If new hires are not sorting effectively and efficiently based on our zero-waste guidelines, they are subject to review and possible termination.

Must keep contamination rates low.

Must be able to follow instructions from supervisor and complete all tasks effectively.

Must be able to lift at least 50 pounds.

Must be able to carry, push and/or pull, stoop, kneel, crouch and/or crawl.

Ability to work in hot, cold, and/or damp environments.

Reliable Transportation.
PREFERED QUALIFICATIONS

Janitor/Cleaning experience is a plus.

Sortation experience is a plus.

Bilingual (Spanish/English)
