Job Purpose
Non-Ferrous Metals Subject Matter Expert. Provides technical feedback and training to operations to meet customer quality requirements. Develop and maintain relationships with suppliers (external and internal), customers, and brokers to facilitate trading activities; serves as single point of contact for quality and delivery performance issues related to NF metals. Resolves corrective action to resolve product issues and answer customer technical questions. Responsible for identifying and developing new business opportunities in line with Recycling Division Growth Strategies “Sustainable Metals”, as well as develop and manage relationships between division, internal customers, Caterpillar dealers, and end users.

Key Job Elements
Manages day-to-day planning and production activities for various suppliers.
Conduct market research and analysis to identify trends and opportunities in the nonferrous metals market.
Develop and maintain relationships with suppliers (external and internal), customers, and brokers to facilitate trading activities; serves as single point of contact for quality and delivery performance issues related to NF metals.
Negotiate pricing, contracts, and terms with counterparties to maximize profitability.
Develop a 3rd Party Brokerage Growth Strategy for Non-Ferrous.
Support and Develop Non-Ferrous Strategy for Recycling Division.
Develop training for Operations regarding Technical Non Ferrous grading and menu creation.
Conducts monthly meetings with product groups and dealers to discuss product quality, delivery, and build performance.
Monitor market conditions, price movements, and supply-demand dynamics to make informed trading decisions.
Manage risk exposure and implement risk management strategies to protect the company's interests.
Collaborate with internal teams such as operations, logistics, and finance to ensure smooth execution of trades.
Stay informed about industry regulations, trade policies, and market developments that may impact trading activities.
Prepare reports, forecasts, and analysis to track performance and evaluate trading strategies.
Presents build and customer delivery performance to department personnel
Represents Progress Rail when dealing with important customer end-user issues
Works with internal groups and external OEM’s to identify new business opportunities
Education / Training
Bachelor's Degree, Business and/or Marketing, preferred.
Proven experience as a Nonferrous Trader (12 years) or in a similar trading role within the metals industry.
Qualifications and Experience
Strong knowledge of nonferrous metals markets, pricing mechanisms, and trading strategies.
Excellent analytical skills and ability to interpret market data and trends.
Effective communication and negotiation skills to build relationships with stakeholders.
Ability to work under pressure, make quick decisions, and manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
Proficiency in trading platforms, risk management tools, and financial software.
Understanding of compliance, regulations, and ethical standards in trading activities.
Thorough product knowledge and mechanical aptitude
Knowledge of unit service and warranty policies and procedures
Capable of analyzing statistical data and making appropriate decisions and recommendations
Ability to perform physical inventories and reconcile complex issues
Proven background in supervisory/leadership skills; excellent human relations skills; collaborative mindset; ability to listen and communicate with customers, service technicians, and internal employees
Good business background, including marketing and finance
Strong communication skills, both written and oral
Excellent computer skills, including MS Office; proficient with Excel, MS Word, and PowerPoint
Travel as required
