What are the responsibilities and job description for the Youth Counselor position at Progress Ranch?
ASSOCIATE'S DEGREE AND EXPERIENCE WITH CHILDREN/ YOUTH REQUIRED. Experience is minimum 1 year full time equivalent (can be multiple part time jobs combined over a longer period of time to equal 2,080 hours). Prefer experience in a direct care program. PLEASE INCLUDE THIS EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATION ON YOUR RESUME. Must be 21 years or older by time of employment.
Pay is based on education and experience in the field. Currently filling Full-Time and Part-Time shifts. Full-Time, overnight positions are available at our Sacramento location. Part-Time shifts are based on the employee's availability and are available at both locations. Weekends required.

Progress Ranch Treatment Services has two 6-bed Short Term Residential Treatment Programs for boys ages 6 to12. We provide mental health treatment in a nurturing home-like setting in the community of Davis.
Our boys participate in extracurricular activities of their choice, so we are looking for employees who would enjoy bringing their favorite hobbies to share with the boys.
Must be able to pass a background check, and cannot have a DUI within the last four years.

Duties include:
· Supervision, protection, and therapeutic support for assigned child to support their behavioral and mental health needs. This occasionally includes physical safety holds (all staff become CPI certified through Progress Ranch). May include travel to support family visits.
Recognition that behaviors are caused by trauma. Our children generally do not have developmental delays.
· Assistance assigned child in working with a group and in handling individual challenges.
· Setting limits for behavior including implementing children's treatment plan and needs and services plan.
· Daily documentation of children's plan implementation, behaviors and interventions/treatment.
· Notation of the child’s progress; identification of the possible need for professional services; and communication of such findings to professional staff.
· Provide training to the children in all aspects of life including hygiene, work habits, activities, meals, peer, and adult relationships by providing guidance and appropriate role modeling.
· Complete meal preparations, food storage and handling, and related record keeping as required by Title 22 Community Care Licensing Regulations.
· Keeping hygiene and cleanliness standards of the home, as per Title 22 licensing regulations.
· Following agency and Title 22 Community Care Licensing Standards regarding medication dispensing and logging usage along with daily logging observations of any side effects and behaviors related to medication management.
· Following agency and Title 22 Community Care Licensing Standards regarding record keeping for all medical and dental appointments.
· Interacting with school personnel and individuals from the community, establishing good public relations.
· Planning, scheduling and involvement in activities and group functions.
· Mandatory attendance at staff meetings and agency training as required by Title 22 Community Care Licensing Standards.
· Document and track child’s behaviors, ability to complete written reports.
· Other duties as assigned.
