We are currently looking for an experienced Manager to join our Consulting Services Team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in consulting and IT Project Management within the biotech/pharmaceutical industry. As a Manager Consulting Services, you’ll be at the heart of our mission to deliver exceptional client service and drive new business opportunities, propelling our clients towards their strategic goals.
As a Manager, Consulting Services at Project Outlier (PrO), you will:
Develop New Business
- Understand current and potential client situations, challenges, opportunities, and objectives (“client needs”)
- Understand PrO capabilities to address client needs and identify opportunities for new scopes of work
- Support sales process to win/earn work with client(s) (i.e. Identify new opportunities, capabilities presentation, proposal)
- Facilitate contracting process between client organization(s) and PrO (i.e. MSA, SOW, CO)
Lead Delivery of Great Client Service
- Manage client expectations by clearly communicating deliverables, timelines, and project scope to ensure alignment between client expectations and what we will deliver
- Participate in Strategic Resource Management (“SRM”) and Talent Acquisition (“TA”), as warranted, to effectively staff client team throughout client engagement
- Effectively onboard team members to client team(s)
- Lead client team members to deliver exceptional service and measurable results to client(s) by providing clear direction, setting achievable goals, and supporting team members through continuous feedback
- Develop consulting services team members (i.e. Analysts, Consultants, and Sr. Consultants)
- Proactively identify and resolve PrO service delivery challenges to minimize negative impact to clients by anticipating risks, developing contingency plans, and collaborating with stakeholders to find solutions that keep the project on track.
- Consistently achieve PrO financial objectives for SOWs you manage (i.e. utilization, bill rates, revenue, gross margin %)
- Collaborate with other PrO client leaders to serve our entire client portfolio and grow PrO (i.e. round tables, knowledge sharing, cross-selling)
- Ensure that client team(s) contribute to PrO body of knowledge (i.e. summarize and publish case studies and testimonials, nominate team members for awards, etc.)
Deliver Great Client Service
- Manage a portfolio of high-priority projects, including, governance, resource management, and budget management
- Lead the efforts to define, plan, and drive completion of client programs and projects
- Regularly communicate with the client to understand their overall goals, objectives, and priorities to develop and maintain their project portfolios and road maps
- Facilitate regular meetings to review project portfolio, providing appropriate level of detail and succinctly summarizing key issues
- Develop and improve PMO processes, tools, and trainings to enable effective project execution
- Build and deliver executive-facing decks
What You’ll Bring:

- At least seven 7 years of progressive experience as a consultant or in a consultant-like role
- At least five 5 years of IT project management experience (have successfully managed a variety of IT projects (e.g. platform/vendor selections, system implementations, system upgrades, data migrations, etc.)
- At least 3 years of experience working with biotech/pharmaceutical organizations
- At least 2 years of consulting leadership experience (must have led client facing teams)
- At least 2 years of leadership experience
- Ability to create a positive, learning environment for each team member
- An advanced fluency in Power Point skills as this role requires creating compelling presentations for executives
- Ability to motivate and inspire team members, provide guidance and direction, and foster a collaborative and results-oriented environment
- Ability to inspire team members and build a true followership

- Ideally located in the San Diego, CA area or in one of the pharma/biotech hot spots: Greater San Francisco, Chicago, Boston, New Jersey, Philadelphia, or North Carolina; must be willing to travel to clients, conferences, etc.

Compensation Range: $120,000-$150,000
