Job Summary
The Payroll Assistant ensures accurate and timely execution of all payroll updates; assists with bi-weekly payroll processing; processes all employment verifications, garnishment orders, taxes, and additional variable payroll plans; and verifies managers or supervisors complete timecard and Paid Time Off (PTO) requests.
Responsibilities
- Ensure accurate and timely processing of payroll updates (i.e., new hires, terminations, pay rate and position changes, sick pay, PTO, garnishments, taxes, benefits deductions, etc.)
- Verify managers and supervisors have completed timecard and PTO requests
- Coordinate with other payroll team members to process bi-weekly payroll and additional adjustment payrolls when necessary
- Process all employment verifications, garnishment orders, taxes, and additional variable payroll plans
- Maintain compliance with Health, Safety, and Environmental (HSE) policies by attending all required HSE training sessions, safety meetings, and always utilize proper Personal Protective Equipment (PPE)
- Perform other duties as assigned
- High School diploma or GED, required
- Accounting, Human Resources, or Payroll experience, preferred
- Previous experience using Payroll or HRIS systems, preferred
- Paycom experience a plus
- Proficient in Spanish, preferred
- Strong verbal and written communication skills, able to interact with personnel at all levels of the organization
- Excellent organization skills with strong attention to detail
- Personable and reliable with a positive attitude
- Works well independently as well as part of a team
- Good time management skills, able to prioritize workload and meet deadlines
- Strong analytical skills and ability to solve problems independently
- Proficient with Microsoft Office 365 applications and able to quickly learn other work related software
