We are looking for a Design Director who understands what it takes to design and implement award-winning creative. As a director, you lead teams through project management, the translation of strategy into creative concepts, design refinement, and final delivery. As a designer, you develop powerful and purposeful concepts that inspire others and showcase your strong craft skills. Often working under tight deadlines while overseeing multiple projects and designers, you must be an effective communicator, especially when it comes to relaying creative concepts to design teams and company stakeholders.

YOUR DAY TO DAY
- Manage design teams across multiple client engagements, driving high brand design and visual system quality deliverables
- Work in partnership with Strategic, Account and Marketing teams to understand and manage client needs
- Ability to define and implement innovative solutions for digital direction, visuals and experiences.
- Participate in the business development process, including working on pitches and presentations to prospective clients and developing proposals
- Build deep client relationships across projects
- Conceptualize original ideas that bring simplicity and user friendliness to complex design roadblocks
- Work with vendors and outside specialty resources
- Manage deliverables, timelines and budgets of all engagements
- Provide leadership for project teams, infusing superior design aesthetic into the work
- Manage and cultivate the professional development of team members
- Contribute to studio culture by inspiring others
WHAT YOU BRING
- 8 years of proven experience as a Senior Designer or Graphic Designer, preference to 2 years with Design Director experience
- A portfolio of brand oriented work, reflecting innovative creative thinking and strong technical craft skills
- Advanced skills in Illustrator, InDesign, Photoshop, PowerPoint and Figma, with preferred experience using tools in AI, prototyping in Sketch, UX/UI and Motion Design
- BFA/BS/BA in Graphic Design preferred, or equivalent experience
- Experience working and developing full visual design systems
- Work in an office culture that supports creating with joy, experimentation, and the ability to give and grow
- Prior experience with maintaining and developing long term client relationships
- Comfortable with travel, when necessary, in client service business
- Solid verbal and written presentation skills
- Strong creative problem-solving skills
- Successfully manages time, process, and workflow while balancing multiple projects
- This role requires being in our New York Office to meet with team members and contribute to creative in-office culture
Location: New York, New York
Salary range: 140,000 - 160,000 USD
