Registered Dietitian
SUMMARY
The Registered Dietitian is responsible to consult in a collaborative fashion with the Nutrition Director and the treatment team to ensure the best standard of nutrition and dietary services are occurring. The registered dietitian completes a Dietary Assessment when indicated and directed by the treatment team. The Registered Dietitian meets with all clients weekly and conducts Nutrition Education Groups and Dietary Experientials. This position reports directly to the Nutrition Director.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Completes dietary intake assessments when needed.
- Meets with the client upon admission to establish therapeutic rapport.
- Conduct individual client sessions per the protocol of programming. Complete written documentation of each session within 48 hours.
- Implement and manage individualized dietary meal plans that meet each client’s specific needs.
- Identify weekly treatment goals and communicate to the treatment team.
- Co-facilitate therapeutic meals appropriate to PHP and IOP level of care.
- Facilitate nutrition groups weekly that are appropriate to the adult and adolescent age groups.
- Implement a nutrition treatment plan for each client within 5 days of admission.
- Revise and edit client nutrition treatment plans every 30 days.
- Create a nutrition discharge plan for each client within 5 days of discharge.
- Make appropriate changes to individualized meal plans as needed based on weekly weights.
- Communicate with referring and/or outpatient dietitian upon admission to PHP or IOP program, during the course of treatment as needed, and upon discharge from Prosperity.
- Communicate with a medical doctor, as needed, regarding any medical problems that may require dietary intervention. Communicates with the psychiatrist when applicable.
- Monitor client lab results as needed.
- Collaborate with chef/cook and diet-techs in regards to maintaining the kitchen and proper food handling.
- Collaborate with clinical therapists to complete utilization review documentation as needed.
- Attend all staff meetings, weekly nutrition team meetings, and supervision.
QUALIFICATIONS
This provider will have a minimum of a Bachelor’s Degree from an approved DPD program, preferably a Master’s Degree. Will have completed the dietary internship required to be an RDN and have passed the board exam or will within 90 days of hire. Will have a passion and interest in working with clients with eating disorders. Will have a solid understanding of Health At Every Size, All Foods Fit, and a non-diet approach. Will have completed ServSafe training or do so within 90 days of hire. Preference for experience working with eating disorders.
