Description Unit Coordinator - Emergency Department @ Swedish Cherry Hill Day Shift Per Diem 12 Hour Shifts Responsible and accountable for the coordination of information and clerical support needed for the care and flow of patients in the Swedish Medical Center and Emergency Department environment. Management of the Medical Chart, files, on-call physicians, order entry, admission, discharge and disposition of the patient from the department. Maintains and retrieves clinical information as needed to meet regulatory requirements. Provides front line customer service and service recovery responsibility. Coordinates order entry and results/reports needed for patient care. Demonstrates team behavior that supports and meets the team values. Performs data entry and collection of data needed to evaluate systems and processes. Initiates and prioritizes telephone communications. Admission and disposition of the ED patient. Maintains the immediate work environment. Assures equipment is in working order, and troubleshoots as necessary. Locates outside physicians via the call schedule or as directed by the ED medical staff. Participates in the development and implementation of quality improvement processes. Attends and participates in departmental staff meetings. Manages department specific computer systems such as discharge instructions, Electronic Medical Record. Represents the ED via membership on SMC committees. Greets and directs patients/customers presenting to the Medical Center and ED. Provides ongoing position development and assists in the orientation and education processes for new and existing staff. Required qualifications: 1 year Related experience in a medical setting or completion of unit coordinator program. Preferred qualifications: Coursework/Training: One year college studies.
