What are the responsibilities and job description for the Intake Coordinator - Detroit position at PsyGenics?
Must possess a master’s degree in social or behavioral health, be fully licensed* in the State of Michigan in good standing as well as meet the criteria for a Children’s Mental Health Specialist, Qualified Intellectual Disabilities Professional and Qualified Mental Health Professional. Person must have police and DHS clearance. Must have a minimum of one-year post graduate experience working with children and adults with Developmental Disabilities, Severe Mental Illness or persons with a Traumatic Brain Injury. Additional requirements include: working knowledge of the DSM-V or current manual, a nonjudgmental approach that reflects cultural competency and sensitivity to the unique needs and diverse experiences of individual families, the ability to engage and maintain clinical relationships with families, the ability to develop collaborative relationships with other providers, effective interpersonal communication skills, the ability to assess and intervene within complex family and community systems, and a willingness to be flexible, patient and creative.
Position Summary
The Intake Coordinator is responsible for completion of clinical intakes for new cases and initial referrals to all appropriate internal programs. Demonstrated ability to complete all intake documentation thoroughly including but not limited to consents for treatment, releases of information, biopsychosocial assessments and preliminary plans. Timely and skillful handoff to the Supports Coordinator is required to ensure development of a Person-Centered Plan.
Specific Responsibilities
- Provides an overview of PsyGenics and the services offered internally and externally to new consumers
- Maintains current information regarding both internal and external services and resources
- Explains and obtains consents for treatment, financial determination and other intake documents to consumers and families
- Completes a thorough biopsychosocial assessment based on sound clinical rationale
- Develops a preliminary treatment plan based on the needs identified in the biopsychosocial assessment
- Refers and schedules new intakes with internal services including but not limited to Supports Coordination, Psychiatrist, Link to Wellness, and other appropriate disciplines
- Completes an intended beneficiary survey with new consumers after the intake process
- Provides resources as appropriate
- Completes all documentation in the Electronic Medical Record system within 24 hours
- Maintains updated calendar in the Electronic Medical Record daily
- Maintains at least 50% productivity (i.e., face to face contact)
- Collaborates with Clinical Supervisor and other team members
- Must be knowledgeable in the Mental Health Code and Medicaid guidelines as well as billing protocols and procedures
- Participates in clinical supervision, team meetings and case consultation
- As appropriate, obtain all prior authorizations and applicable coordination of care
- Follow PsyGenics, Inc. professional code of conduct
- Represent PsyGenics, Inc. in the community
- Abide by all regulations of licensure; expectations of contract with insurance provider; local, state and federal laws; and CARF accreditation standards
- Assists non-master’s level staff with completion of annual biopsychosocial assessments
- Perform similar or related duties as assigned
*LMSW or LLMSW preferred, LLPC or LPC considered.
LLMSW professionals may also function in this role with the understanding that they must maintain ongoing supervision until such time as they receive full licensure. If appropriately licensed staff are available and able, PsyGenics will assist with supervision. In lieu of in-house supervision, Limited Licensed professionals may also choose to provide documentation of ongoing outside supervision on a quarterly basis until such time as they receive full licensure.
LLPC professionals will require outside supervision until such time as they receive full licensure.
