Job Summary
This exempt position assumes responsibilities of a Distribution Center Manager in appropriate distribution centers as assigned across region. Duties will include hands-on management and oversight of all distribution staff and processes in place to facilitate the distribution of newspapers and other periodicals at assigned distribution center location(s) in the region. Maintain consistent compliance and the appropriate application of company policies and procedures to ensure satisfactory customer service levels. Expectation is for position to report to all locations throughout the region as assigned on a regular basis.
Essential Functions & Responsibilities
- Overall management and supervision of assigned distribution center(s) and corresponding geographic territory.
- Hands on management of daily operations to ensure all route delivery expectations are met consistently.
- Assist in selection, hiring, training, and staff evaluation.
- Management of employees to ensure compliance with company policy and procedures.
- Provide adequate safety oversight within operation.
- Tracking all Delivery Service Provider compensation in relation to their assigned location.
- Assist in identifying problematic operational issues.
- Ensures client’s subscriber complaints are resolved satisfactorily before escalation.
- Assist in location service analysis.
- Oversee the process of contracting Delivery Service Providers.
- Able to drive regularly to cover open route activity, visual confirmation of delivery, and assist in the demonstration of routes to Delivery Service Providers.
- Provide oversight in center warehouse operations, maintaining high visibility on floor during operations.
- Actively engages in DSP recruitment efforts throughout the region
- Assists in required safety training throughout the region (material handling equipment)
- Other duties as assigned.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
Technical and Functional
- Good verbal and written communication skills.
- Must have thorough knowledge of the Delivery Service Provider’s Agreement or contracts.
- Ability to prioritize, manage and perform multiple tasks simultaneously.
- Ability to meet the established customer service objectives.
- Must have access to a reliable vehicle, valid driver’s license in the state where residing and automobile insurance at limits required by PCF.
- Ability to work well under pressure and sometimes under adverse conditions.
- Ability to use required computer systems and applications.
- Strong knowledge of assigned territory
Required Physical Abilities
- Able to lift and move bundles of newspapers (up to 50 lbs.) repeatedly on a daily basis.
- Able to skillfully use and operate electric or manual pallet jack
- Able to stand on warehouse floor for long periods of time
- Able to operate an automobile for extended periods of time
- Able to complete route delivery, to include getting out of car for direct product placement, may also involve walking or climbing stairs.
Working Environment
- Able to work weekends and early morning hours.
- Able to work in warehouse type environment.
- Able to function at night in adverse conditions.
Experience, Education and Certifications Required
Experience Required
- Requires a minimum of 4-6 years related work experience.
Required Educational Level
- Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent work experience.
