IT Systems Engineer

Objective of the Position: Ensure IT solutions implemented and adapted to efficiently and effectively meet business needs. Responsible for designing solutions in alignment with Global IT to meet needs of internal customers, and supporting & implementing solutions designed by the Global IT. Ensure reliable, secure operating of IT systems though monitoring, incident response, proactive maintenance, and proactive lifecycle replacement.

Essential Accountabilities: The position incumbent ensures, that

• Ensure IT Solutions are designed, sized, and implemented to meet service objectives
• Ensure IT systems are IT security hardened
• Contribute to defining requirements/needs for new global IT systems & services by joining global discussion and representing the needs of Purem Novi, Inc.
• Contribute to defining new global IT solutions by suggesting ideas, doing research, implementing proof-of-concepts, etc. 
• Implement, document, and support global IT solutions locally
• Create & maintain, and organize documentation of IT systems & services
• Identify, create, implement solutions to improve efficiency and effectiveness, including solutions for automation & consistency (such as Ansible, Infrastructure-As-Code, other DevOps tools/methodologies)
• Monitor configurations of system to ensure desired configuration is maintained.
• Support team as a subject matter expert, build up knowledge with team members
• Define processes for administration/maintenance of IT solutions
• Work closely with Systems Administrators, Specialists, Service Desk, Production IT, and Plant IT, support the team with administration, maintenance, and support topics
• Ensure backup, disaster recovery, and business continuity plans are prepared and meeting objectives
• Interpret global IT and Information Security policies & standards, and create more specific standards for business unit as needed to ensure global standards are upheld within business unit.
• Align with global IT, local IT, and internal customers in selection and configuration of IT systems & services
• Decide which vendors to use for IT hardware, software, and services
• Decide how to solve problems and prioritize tasks
• Maintain IT licensing & compliance.
• Creating purchase requisitions for the purchase of IT hardware, software, and services.

Secondary Accountabilities: The position incumbent ensures, that

• Conduct all business related activities for, and on the behalf of, Eberspaecher within the limits of applicable local, state, and federal legal requirements.
• Provide support to, and compliance with, all local and corporate Eberspaecher Health, Safety & Environmental (HSE) policies, procedures and other HSE related requirements.
• Quality - Demonstrates accuracy and thoroughness and follows all ENA polices related to TS16949 and ISO 14001; looks for way to improve and promote quality.
• Other duties as assigned.

Requirement Profile:

Professional Background / Basic Qualification / Work Experience:

• Bachelor's degree (B. A.) in Computer, Business or closely related field, or IT certifications and/or knowledge from work experience
• Minimum 5 years of work experience in IT field involving building & maintaining IT infrastructure, (servers, SAN/NAS storage solutions, virtualization)
  • Preferred: 3 years’ experience in working for a manufacturing automotive supplier 
  • Preferred: 3 years’ experience in working for an international company collaborating with other international IT teams
• Expert knowledge of IT infrastructure, Windows, VMware, servers, SAN/NAS storage systems.
  • Preferred: Experience with NetApp FAS storage systems, NFS, iSCSI
• Strong knowledge of IT Security practices, ability to harden system & application configurations
• Strong knowledge of networking, routing, switching, firewall fundamentals
  • Preferred: basic Cisco IOS switch/router configuration know-how
• Strong troubleshooting capabilities, ability to trace/isolate a complex problem across multiple systems to identify root cause
• Strong knowledge of private key infrastructure (PKI)
• Experience with cloud services such as Azure, Intune, etc.
• Ability to break down complex IT implementations into smaller tasks/actions, to partner with other IT team members to distribute the effort and achieve timely results
• Continuously learning, monitoring IT trends and exploring new technologies
• Ability to train/mentor other IT colleagues on IT systems/technologies, to help build up the knowledge within the team
• Ability to prioritize tasks and complete them in a timely manner
• Ability to travel domestically by car or plane.
• To perform this job successfully, an individual must be proficient in Microsoft Office.
