What are the responsibilities and job description for the Counselor Lead position at Pyramid Healthcare?
Deliverables/Principal Results Expected:
- Responsible for providing leadership and support to counselors and tech staff.
- Co-facilitating group therapy, including preparation of materials, through research and construction of curriculum.
- Carrying a limited caseload as deemed necessary.
- Communicating with referral sources and company representatives regularly to strengthen relationships and address concerns/problems.
- Work closely with the psychiatrist and nursing staff regarding medication management and evaluation of client mental health needs.
- Manages client files by conducting scheduled audits to ensure proper documentation is present and all licensing regulations are met.
- Facilitates and attends weekly treatment team meetings.
- Schedules and conducts staffing with clients and staff.
- As needed, conducts insurance reviews and assessments.
- Attends Clinical Team, Facility Team and Company meetings.
- Attends court hearings when applicable.
- Responsible for intake process with new clients into program.
- Participates in on-call duties for the facility to assist line staff with client behavioral and emotional needs.
- Listens to clients concerning all areas of treatment including assistance with the grievance process.
- Maintains safe, orderly, and therapeutic physical environment for clients including crisis intervention.
- Oversees Family Programming including but not limited to the facilitation of psycho-educational programming.
- Provide recommendations and assist in coordination of aftercare planning for clients.
- Assist Clinical Supervisor with clerical duties and any other duties as assigned.
- Other duties as assigned.
Technical Competencies: Capable of role modeling to the clients. Helps to maintain strong clinical program. Able to work together with staff to effectively meet the needs of the clients. Maintains positive relationship with referral sources and families. Charts maintain compliance with Licensing regulations. Complete required trainings and mandatory training hours. Strong clinical skills in D&A and mental health treatment, stages of change, motivational interviewing, CBT, relapse prevention and treatment planning. Sound knowledge of mental health treatment including proficient DSM-V knowledge. Knowledgeable of psychotropic medications. A working knowledge of HIPAA, DDAP, RTFA and CARF regulations.
Education, Experience:
Must meet one of the following:
1) A Master’s Degree from an accredited college with a major in chemical dependency, psychology, social work, counseling, nursing (with a clinical specialty in the human services field) or other related field.
2) A Bachelor’s Degree with the same educational requirements and 1 year of clinical experience.
3) An Associate’s Degree with the same educational requirements and 2 years of clinical experience.
4) Full certification as an addictions counselor by a statewide certification body, which is a member of a National certification body or certification by another state government’s substance abuse counseling certification board.
5) Current licensure in this Commonwealth as a physician.
6) Current licensure in this Commonwealth as a registered nurse and a degree from an accredited school of nursing and 1 year of counseling experience.
