Position Summary:
The Biospecimen Specialist will be responsible for the management of clinical biospecimens as well as performing basic laboratory activities supporting the Translational Medicine team. Primary responsibilities will include, but not be limited to, overseeing, and coordinating all clinical sample management activities including tracking of samples, coordination of shipping and testing of samples, sample reconciliation activities and coordination of central laboratory activities. Additional responsibilities may include performing experiments to support translational research. This position will work closely with Translational Medicine, Bioanalytical and Clinical Operation teams.

Responsibilities:
- Develop and maintain logs to track the movement of clinical samples.
- Document sample discrepancies and communicate to appropriate stakeholders.
- Identify and help resolve specimen collection, processing, transportation, and testing errors/issues as required.
- Coordinate shipments of clinical samples to contract research organizations (CROs).
- Prepare and coordinate shipments of non-clinical samples to CROs.
- Create specimen management metrics and/or reports and distribute to relevant study team members.
- Ensure tasks are conducted in accordance with study protocols, informed consent forms, data transfer agreements, standard operating procedures (SOPs) and other regulatory requirements.
- Assist with contracting of laboratories including execution of CDAs, MSAs and tracking sample quantities and CRO services for proofing invoices against contracts.
- Perform experiments at bench-level to support translational research work.
- Examples may include but are not limited to procuring biological specimens, cell culture, preparation of samples for histological evaluation, immunohistochemistry, slide scanning.
- Prepare and maintain laboratory reagents, cultures, or cell lines as needed.
- Perform and modify documented protocols and assays.
- Maintain laboratory records and compile data on experiments and assays.
- Interpret and report on experimental results.
- Perform other related duties and/or ad hoc projects as required or as assigned by manager.

- BA/BS in a scientific field required. Must have scientific knowledge in study and basic laboratory skills.
- Solid documentation practices and attention to detail.
- Minimum of one year industry/laboratory experience working with clinical samples is preferred.
- Understanding of regulatory requirements related to diagnostics is beneficial, but not required.
- Independent research experience in addition to post-secondary lab experience is preferred.
- Uses discretion and judgment in carrying out experiments.
- Able to follow established SOPs.
- Demonstrated proficiency in Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
- Able to work in the United States without sponsorship.
- Location: Local to Boston, MA; must be willing to work on-site 2-3 days per week
- Travel: 5-10% local and domestic travel

Salary : $82,000 - $120,000
