Position Overview
QinetiQ US is seeking a Director to lead our Data and Technology Group (DTG).
The DTG workforce is comprised of and experienced team of full-stack developers, data engineers, data scientists, cyber security experts, and other technologists, creating a dynamic, cross-project technical community that prioritizes continual learning, collaboration, and easy opportunities for project variety over time.
The DTG provides technologists to deliver capabilities and solutions to US Government clients across Homeland Security, Defense, and Civilian agencies.
Responsibilities
The Director of the Data and Technology Group leads a growing team of 50 technologists by:
- Directly supervising a team of capability-specific managers, providing technical delivery oversight, and other people leadership responsibilities.
- Managing project assignments for current personnel, along with interviewing and hiring new DTG technologists.
- Identifying and pursuing opportunities for organic growth by leveraging DTG capabilities in conjunction with other delivery elements to raise customer awareness, add scope, and/or deliver prototypes and pilot projects.
- Providing technical expertise to business development activities by helping evaluate technical opportunities and identifying pertinent past performances across business units.
- Supporting solution development and the drafting of technical approaches as part of proposal efforts.
- Engaging with other data/technology-focused elements of QinetiQ US, supporting and sponsoring technical communities of practice, and encouraging cross-project awareness, learning, and collaboration
- Leading partner engagement activities with partners such as AWS, Google, and Microsoft.
Required Qualifications
- 10 years of relevant professional experience in data and technology solutioning, technical program management, technology consulting, and/or leadership of cross-functional technical teams
- Bachelors degree
- Experience leading and delivering projects for federal government customers
- Experience managing P&L and budgets for projects and programs
- Experience with technical writing and solutioning for proposals
- Experience with developing proposal pricing models
- Demonstratable personal expertise in at least one of the following: machine learning / data science; data engineering / ETL pipelines; agile software development; cyber security
- Advanced communication and consulting skills demonstrated in technical and client engagements; must be able to translate complex and technical concepts into layman’s terms through full-length written text, oral presentations, and diagrams and charts; must also be able to translate customer-expressed needs and missions into technical requirements.
- Ability to manage work and lead people in a dynamic environment, at times with ambiguous and/or competing priorities and the involvement of internal and external stakeholders.
- Experience with screening and partnering with technical vendors and sub-contractors and integrating their capabilities and services with QinetiQ offerings and teams to deliver projects and solutions.
- Must be in DC / northern Virginia area, able to work a hybrid schedule as needed with key QinetiQ locations in McLean and Reston, VA
