Position Overview
QinetiQ is seeking a Senior Engineer (ME, EE, Systems) with extensive knowledge and strong communication skills to join our team of well qualified, diverse individuals working on-site at RTI/GCSD Ft. Belvoir, VA.
Responsibilities
- Support the design and development of Opto-Mechanical Sensor Systems for commercial and government applications.
The work involves mechanical design, modeling, tolerancing, drawing generation, assembly procedures, part selection, environmental analysis, and testing for systems and sub-assemblies.
- Work closely with Program Management and Functional Management to ensure project technical performance requirements are met as well as schedule and budget.
- Developing a rugged product design from customer requirements to a fully tested/compliant system.
Required Qualifications
- BS or MS degree in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Systems Engineering or equivalent.
- Experience: 5 years
- Less than 5 years of experience will be considered with demonstrated Lead (ME, EE, SE) engineering experience on a complex system
- Machine Design
- Motion Control - Ability to write code for motion control.
- Ability to program Command & Control (C2) on systems and Gimbals
- Experience in system aspects of Command & Control
- Structural FEA
- Airflow/Thermal Analysis (Computational Fluid Dynamics preferred)
- Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T)
- Experience with SolidWorks, Pro-Engineer, or similar CAD software required
- Experience working with integrated Product Data Management systems (Windchill, EPDM, …)
- Ability to translate requirements and develop a top down system level design including all sub-assemblies and components.
- Active DOD Secret or higher clearance.
