What are the responsibilities and job description for the Safety Lead position at QISG?
General Description
The Safety Lead manages the overall safety and health for each project assigned. In addition, this position oversees the subcontractor and vendor on-site personnel from a safety perspective. This position works closely with the designated Project Manager and Construction Manger to ensure a safe working environment for all employees.
Duties
• Leads project safety and health initiatives for each project assigned
• Oversees subcontractor and vendor on-site personnel from a safety perspective
• Proactively assists and supports crew members to achieve a safe work environment
• Leads weekly safety meetings with all personnel on projects
• Conducts daily project safety audits in coordination with the QISG Safety Director
• Communicates with customer safety representatives as required
• Conducts safety onboarding training for new crew members
• Conducts accident and incident investigations as required
• Reviews and understands all project specific safety requirements, customer safety requirements, and QISG safety requirements
• Reviews subcontractor safety plans as necessary
• Creates and updates safety plans as required
• Ensures proper reporting is obtained from subcontractors (job hazard analyses (JHA’s), tailboards, etc.)
• Manages project roster and ensures adequate safety training for all field personnel
• Manages all required safety documentation (rosters, certifications, etc.)
• Performs any other duties assigned
• Adheres to internal standards, policies, and procedures
Required Experience and Education
• Bachelor’s degree in Business, Construction Science/Management, Safety, or equivalent field; equivalent work experience, or combination of work and education, may be substituted
• 2 years’ experience in a safety leadership role
Preferred Experience and Education
• 1 year experience within high voltage substation, transmission, and distribution construction environments
• Valid OSHA 10 and 30 certifications
• Valid AED/CPR/First Aid training/certifications
• Valid Safety certifications (ASP, CSP, OHST, CHST, CUSP, etc.)
