What are the responsibilities and job description for the Automation Lead position at Quad?

The Automation Leader is an essential support position in large, high-volume plant. The Automation Lead functions as a technical expert and trainer. This individual also assists the Shift Supervisor with scheduling and providing direction to crews to meet production goals and maximize efficiency and profitability.
Key Responsibilities
- Production & Planning. Oversees automatic bundling area crew and equipment and is responsible for creating and achieving performance and safety goals associated with that area. Serves as a technical resource to lead Make Readies, preventative and general Maintenance of equipment, equipment training and safety issues and monitoring of the production line.
- Crew Management. Responsible for technical and safety training and development of Bundle Tech crew. Monitors daily press schedule and work flow to manage labor. Communicates expectations, provides feedback, monitors attendance and performance, resolves issues and conflicts and performs evaluations in conjunction with the supervisor/manager.
- Quality/Daily Business Improvement. Trains Bundle Techs to understand customer quality expectations. Help them to recognize potential issues and communicate them to their Press Operator. Understands and promotes LEAN, 6S, SMED and MDI. Shares Best Practices with crew, shift and other plants. Supports and helps establish SOPs for process improvement.
- Development and Education. Participates in LEAN training, maintains high degree of technical knowledge of equipment and process flow, trains employees and works with business partners on educational materials and training process. Strives for and seeks out opportunities for personal development.
