MUST:
Experienced Cable Splicer B
3 years as Cable Splicer or equivalent combination of formal education/training and experience
Experience working manhole and confined space or ability to become trained and qualified
Experienced transformer / substation entry or ability to become trained and qualified
Qualified climber or ability to become a qualified climber
Demonstrated ability to operate equipment.
Properly dress and remove PPE and cover ups when appropriate.
Willingness to work during emergencies.
DUTIES:
Arranges cable and equipment in manholes, vaults and on overhead terminal poles in accordance with construction standards.
Splices and terminates electric underground cable for voltages ranging from secondary to 33 kv transmission.
Splices energized cables up to 480 V.
Splices and terminates 15- 33 kv aerial cable.
Installs, inspects, and maintains underground equipment such as transformers, splices,
Installs, inspects, tests, cleans, and repairs A. C. network transformers, protectors, and other associated equipment.
Adjusts or replaces protective relays and checks for proper operation.
Pot heads and terminates cables near high-voltage overhead lines and storm restoration work.
Operates portable generators and pumps, and small electric tools.
Performs any other duties required to complete a job.
