Summary |
The Plant Operator is responsible for performing routine checks of water and wastewater treatment facilities and keeping up with compliance, permits, preventative and corrective maintenance as well as investigating customer issues.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities |
- Perform routine checks of facilities and ensure compliance with TCEQ and NPDES requirements.
- Conduct preventative and corrective maintenance work in plants.
- Investigate and address work orders on issues such as water leaks, pressure, and quality, as well as sewer backups.
- Execute flushing regime procedures.
- Perform related responsibilities as required or assigned.

Qualifications |
Education & Experience
- High School Diploma.
- TCEQ D or C Water and D or C Wastewater Operator Licenses Proficient in spreadsheet applications.
- 2 years of experience as a wastewater plant operator.
- Professionalism in dealing with customers in the field.
- Clean driving record.
- Ability to assess industry standards of chemicals in plants.
- Visibility of work requires attention to detail, excellent organizational skills, and discretion with confidential information.
Special Job Requirements
- At least one year of experience OIT with Quadvest.
- Recommendation by the Operations Manager.
- Approval by the Chief Operating Officer.
Language/Math/Reasoning Ability
- Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.
- Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.
- Ability to define problems, collects data, establishes facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
Computer Skills
- Proficient computer skills, including electronic mail and some experience with basic accounting software, compliance software, and financial analysis software.
Physical Requirements |
- Ability to see 20-20 when corrected.
- Substantial movements (motion) of the wrist, hands, and/or fingers in a repetitive manner.
- Manual dexterity sufficient to reach/handle items, works with the fingers, and perceives attributes of objects and materials.
- Manual dexterity sufficient to reach/handle items and work with the fingers.
Working Environment |
- The ability to work in loud, hot environments/extreme weather while wearing required PPE.
- Moderate noise (examples: business office with computers and printers, light traffic).
- 40 hours/week required according to the needs of the department; schedule set by Operations as needed to meet production schedules.
- No overnight travel by land and/or air.
