We are currently looking for a Parts and Service Assistant to join us in our Chesapeake branch.
BASIC FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Receives visitors and telephone calls ensuring these individuals are directed to the proper parties.
- Assists customers with making payments, picking up part orders, and answering general questions.
- Assists the service department with opening repair orders, scheduling customer pick up / delivery of repaired machines, and coordinating payments.
- Assists the parts department with stocking of parts, looking up parts for customers, processing customer purchases, preparing internal transfers and stocking the showroom shelves.
- Makes calls to customers regarding past due accounts, possible abandoned equipment, and status of parts orders.
- Prepares bank deposits, balances cash receipts, and makes bank runs.
- Distributes mail, maintains dealership files, and performs other administrative duties as needed.
- Provides administrative support to the local Sales, Parts, and Service Departments. Assists in keeping the branch clean and orderly in the showroom area.
- Performs other functions or duties as directed by management in-line with the objectives of the dealership.
- Acts as an ambassador for the dealership and protects the positive dealership image, while promoting customer loyalty and goodwill.
EXPERIENCE, SKILLS, AND KNOWLEDGE REQUIREMENTS
- Solid clerical expertise with strong attention to detail and data entry / keyboarding skills.
- General accounting knowledge.
- Strong people and communication skills.
- Excellent organizational skills.
- Ability to use Microsoft Office Applications including Microsoft Word and Microsoft Excel.
- Basic parts and machinery knowledge.
- General understanding of mechanical / technical terms is preferred.
- Ability to use the John Deere Parts related computer application
- Ability to work in a team environment
- Ability to work extended hours and on Saturday morning when necessary
- Ability to operate a forklift, preferred
- High School degree or equivalent experience.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
- Noise Levels : Medium to High.
- Weight Requirements : Lifting up to 50 lbs.
- Mobility : Squatting, bending, climbing, lifting, reaching, twisting, standing, sitting and
- repetitive keyboarding for long durations of time.
- Visual : Working with PC, online content, manuals and close detailed work
- Work Environment : Exposure to extreme weather, fumes, airborne particles and moving
- mechanical parts
- Dexterity : Ability to grasp and manipulate tools, equipment and machines.
The schedule for this position is Monday - Friday from 7 : 30am - 5 : 30pm and with possible participation in the Saturday parts department rotation.
