Purchasing Manager
As the Purchasing Manager, you will be the key leader in the organization's procurement efforts to ensure the timely and cost-effective acquisition of goods and services required for its operations. Your role involves developing procurement strategies, managing supplier relationships, negotiating contracts, and overseeing managing the organization's sourcing needs. Additionally, you will be tasked with maintaining our fleet, providing constant analysis of performance, safety and spending per unit.
Key Responsibilities:
Procurement Strategy:
- Develop and implement procurement strategies aligned with the organization's goals and objectives.
- Aggressively search for cost-saving opportunities, streamline processes, and optimize the procurement workflow.
Supplier Management:
- Identify and evaluate potential suppliers, negotiate terms and pricing, and establish strong working relationships.
- Monitor supplier performance, manage vendor selection, and address any issues or concerns.
Contract Negotiation:
- Lead contract negotiations with suppliers to ensure favorable terms, pricing, and service level agreements.
- Draft and review contracts, ensuring compliance with legal and company standards.
Purchase Planning:
- Collaborate with internal departments to understand their procurement needs and develop effective purchasing plans.
- Maintain proper inventory levels and ensure timely availability of goods and services. Meet “Just in Time” supply goals consistently.
Cost Control and Budgeting:
- Develop and manage the purchasing budget, tracking expenses and cost variances.
- Implement cost control measures and identify opportunities for cost reduction and process improvement.
- Provide monthly active inventory control, including but not limited to physical inventory of all products and sites to establish Cycle Counting and or WIP reporting management practices.
Sourcing and Selection:
- Source and select suppliers based on quality, reliability, cost-effectiveness, and other relevant criteria.
- Lead efforts to diversify the supplier base and explore potential new sources.
Data Analysis and Reporting:
- Collect and analyze procurement data to identify trends, performance metrics, and areas for improvement.
- Generate regular reports for management, highlighting key insights and recommendations.
Risk Management:
- Mitigate procurement-related risks by assessing market trends, supply chain disruptions, and regulatory changes.
- Develop contingency plans to address potential disruptions to the supply chain.
Ethical and Regulatory Compliance:
- Ensure procurement activities adhere to ethical standards, company policies, and relevant industry regulations.
- Monitor compliance with vendor agreements and applicable legal requirements.
Qualifications and Skills:
- Must have, Proven experience in procurement, sourcing, or supply chain management, with a strong understanding of procurement best practices.
- Background in construction materials sourcing highly desirable.
- Excellent negotiation and contract management skills.
- Familiarity with procurement software and systems.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
- Fleet management experience desirable but teachable skill..
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Attention to detail and strong organizational skills.
- Ability to adapt to changing market conditions and priorities.
- Knowledge of industry regulations and ethical procurement practices.
