Internal Auditor

Starting Immediately - Questar III BOCES has a vacancy for a full-time Internal Auditor (Civil Service Title: Accountant) position within our Internal Audit service based out of our Central Office in Castleton, NY. This position will work with various school districts throughout NYS performing all functions associated with the Questar III internal audit service.

Typical duties include the following:

· Prepare annual risk assessments.

· Interview process owners to understand current state systems, processes, and/or controls and assess risk with minimal oversight and supervision.

· Execute comprehensive audits in various operational and financial areas of the school district.

· Evaluate design and operating effectiveness of in-scope audit areas, including efficiency, effectiveness, mitigating controls, and procedures to remediate gaps.

· Prepare audit workpapers that evidence completion of the audit, and that forms an adequate basis for the audit report.

· Participate in audit planning, progress, and wrap-up meetings.

· Review accounting and operational methodologies.

· Recommend corrective actions/business resolutions, as appropriate.

· Preparation of reports which analyze significant risk assessment findings, recommend changes for strengthening internal controls and reducing identified risks, and specify time frames for implementation of such recommendations.

· Present draft audit reports to governing boards

· Daily travel (with the occasional overnight) to and from school districts within New York state anticipated.

Minimum Qualifications for Accountant (as outlined by Columbia County Civil Service):

Graduation from high school or possession of a high school equivalency diploma and either;

Graduation from a regionally accredited or NYS registered college or university with a Bachelor's Degree in Accounting

OR

B) Graduation from a regionally accredited NYS registered college or university with a bachelor's degree in economics, finance or business administration, or related field with a minimum of 18 semester credit hours in accounting PLUS two (2) years of experience in accounting.

OR

C) An equivalent combination of education and experience as defined by the limits of a and b above.

Estimated Salary Range Based on Experience: $50,000 - $66,950 annual
