What are the responsibilities and job description for the Warehouse Manager position at R+L Global Logistics?
Warehouse Manager responsibilities and essential job functions include, but are not limited to the following:
- Manage the receiving, shipping, handling, distribution and storage of all freight, product and supplies that come in and out of warehouse
- Create and drive a development plan strategy for the Fulfillment and Warehouse facility that successfully allows the facility to meet its monthly, quarterly, and yearly goals and initiatives
- Provide business solutions for customers, ensure customer and carrier issues are addressed promptly to generate positive customer satisfaction
- Develop strategy for growing the 3rd party warehouse and fulfillment customer base
- Analyzes operational performance through direct observation, interpretation of reports and collaboration with others. Determines opportunities for improvement of key metrics and executes action plans to achieve results
- Develop and executive warehouse layout plan and space requirements in order to prevent loss or damage and to achieve full warehouse optimization
- Maintain strict control over inventory levels in order to meet internal and external demand of product monitor operational metrics to ensure the team staying on track
- Supervise a team of warehouse personnel, including delivering clear direction, mentoring, coaching, and developing team members; conducting performance evaluations and correction action as needed
- Effectively present relevant information and solutions to customers, prospective clients and other employees of the organization
- Manage customer accounts and act as point of contact for customer service related needs
- Ensure all production orders are shipped to customers in a timely manner in adherence to delivery schedules
- Communicate all delays or variances in inbound/outbound freight to the appropriate parties
- Analyze problems or issues to determine root cause
- Ensure warehouse security, cleanliness and safety standards are adhered to all company policies, procedures and regulatory requirements
Qualifications, Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- 5 years’ warehouse or distribution experience in 3rd party Warehouse/Fulfillment environment
- 5 years’ experience in a supervisory or management role leading high performance teams
- High School Diploma or GED required
- Bachelor’s Degree in Logistics, Supply Chain Management or related field preferred
- Previous experience working with Warehouse Management Systems (WMS), radio frequency picking systems (RF), bar code systems and electronic data interchange (EDI) required; Deposco and Cargowise a plus
- Strong interpersonal and leaderships skills with the ability to collaborate and work effectively with individuals, strengthening relationships to achieve best possible solutions and drive continuous process improvement
- Strong knowledge of shipping and routing guides for multiple mass retailers including retail labeling (including UCC-128 and GS-128)
- Knowledge of OSHA requirements and other warehouse safety principles and government regulations
- Ability to mentor, motivate and develop a team to effectively meet department, divisional and company goals
- Ability to understand client and business partner needs and challenges and apply creative and logical approach to identify solutions
- Six Sigma, APIC Certification or continuous improvement or lean initiatives experience a plus
- Ability to read, write, and speak English fluently
