Technical Writer - Expert
Location - Raleigh, NC - Hybrid
Duration: 12 months
The candidate will be expected to be onsite 2-3 days a week.
The Technical Writer will create technical documentation, including standard operation procedures, user documentation, how-to guides, integration guides, computer systems operation guides, and product specifications. They work with other technical experts, such as engineers and software developers, to ensure that the information they provide is accurate, well formatted, and easy to understand.

- Develop comprehensive documentation that meets organizational standards
- Gain deep understanding of products and services, and translate complex information into simple, polished, engaging content
- Write user-friendly content that meets the needs of target audience, turning insights into language for user success
- Evaluate current content and ensure it is up to date
Responsibilities
- Research, outline, write, and edit content, working closely with various departments to understand project requirements
- Gather information from subject-matter experts and develop, organize, and write procedure manuals, technical specifications, and process documentation
- Work with development and support leads to identify documentation repositories, revise, edit, and determine best solutions for data compilation and centralized storage
- Develop content in alternative media forms for maximum usability, with consistent voice across all documentation
- Determine the clearest and most logical way to present information for greatest reader comprehension
- Analyze information required for the development or update of policy, procedure, and form documentation
- Review and/or copyedit content developed by other members of the team
Qualifications
Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Technical Writing, Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field is preferred but not required
Two or more years of experience as an effective technical writer
Experience in working with engineers to improve user experience (ex: design, UI), refine content, and create visuals and diagrams for technical suppor
Proven ability to quickly learn and understand complex subject matter
Experience in writing documentation and procedure manuals for various audiences
Superb written communication skills, with a keen eye for detail
Strong research skills, attention to detail, and proficiency in grammar and style
Ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously
