Note: This position is not funded through the regular College budget and it must be understood that continued employment is contingent upon approval of the Board of Trustees, and the availability of grant funding.

Pay - $65-$75/hr.


The Pedagogy Programs Administrator will report to the Director of the Gross Center for Holocaust and Genocide Studies. Their primary responsibilities will be:


Manage and expand our teacher-training programs:
  • Design and implement a certificate program in Holocaust and genocide pedagogy for teachers and other educators in our catchment area. The administrator will teach the required courses, work with guest lecturers, and review submitted assignments.
  • Organizing one workshop per semester for educators and teachers-in-training who either teach or would like to teach on the topics of the Holocaust and genocide, often in fulfillment of state requirements.
  • Planning and operating additional events, workshops, and seminars, in coordination with the director, including tailored programs for the teachers and/or students of schools in our catchment area, either off-site or at the Gross Center.
Oversee communication with regional schools, educators, and related institutions:
  • Expand and maintain our network of regional educational administrators and teachers.
  • Manage communication about and promotion of our pedagogy programs.
  • Serve as liaison to the NJ Commission for Holocaust Education.

Additional tasks as needed in association with teacher training, school outreach, and programming for pre-college learners and education majors at RCNJ. (This may include planning and leading study-trips to Europe and other destinations, for which separate employment or remuneration agreements may be signed.)

Qualifications

  • Minimum of 5 years (10-years preferred) of experience teaching about the Holocaust and genocide at the high-school level or equivalent.
  • A master’s degree or higher in a related field.
  • A personal car which they will use to travel to off-site programs and for which mileage will be reimbursed according to Ramapo College policies.
  • The ability to carry and transport all teaching materials (likely 25 lbs.)
  • Experience designing curricula or educational programming in Holocaust and genocide education.
  • Experience planning study-trips to sites relevant to the history of the Holocaust and genocide is preferred.
