To help write that story, we are currently looking for an experienced Construction Manager. This position will support projects mainly in the Northeast area of the US. This position is expected to spend extended periods of time on client project sites. This position will be responsible for, but not limited to, the following:
- Provide preconstruction services including estimating and schedule development
- Procurement support including development of procurement plans, prequalification of subcontractors, vendors, suppliers, bid package development, bid solicitations, bid reviews; development of construction execution plans, and development of logistics plans
- Oversight of construction projects for pharmaceutical clients, central utility plant renovations, major infrastructure renovations, utility renovations, HVAC construction, controls, and electrical work
- Oversight of project staff including project engineer, safety, project controls, and quality inspection staff
- Estimating cost of materials, labor and use of equipment required to fulfill provisions of contract
- Assist the Project Manager and Engineering Manager with the management of design related issues that arise during the construction process including submittal and RFI responses
- Participation in Value Engineering and Constructability review sessions
- Daily coordination of construction activities with subcontractors, vendors, and client facility managers; attending meetings and assist PM's with overseeing engineering efforts
- Responsible for the development and implementation of the project specific safety program. Participates actively in creating a safety culture in the office and at the jobsite.
Works on other projects outside of the region when required and visit other offices when needed for project support - Obtains client feedback and maintain/grow client relationships
- Leads team with the change order process including proper client notification, supporting data, gathering/organization development for Project Manager review and processing
Skills and Qualifications
- Associate Degree in Applied Science plus 8 years relevant years of experience, or Bachelor’s degree in an Engineering discipline or Construction plus 6 years of relevant experience
- Ability to read plans/drawings/specifications and interpret data
- Construction sequencing and planning, construction scheduling/durations
- Safety planning, means and methods
- Travel required
- OSHA 30 hour Safety Training for Supervisors
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills
- Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office
- Working knowledge of operation and use of a variety of construction equipment
- Knowledge and familiarity with Project Scheduling and Job Costing
- High level of energy and ability to motivate employees
