responsibilities:
- Deliver innovative automation solutions and design standards either independently or as a team leader
- Conceptualize, detail, and implement control systems for industrial processes and machinery
- Develop control system architecture, select components, detail schematic diagrams, and create system documentation
- Program controllers (PLC, DCS, RTU) and process visualization (HMI/SCADA)
- Develop databases for archiving/displaying historical system data
- Implement and commission control systems at client facilities
- Knowledge of controller programming languages (Ladder, Sequential Function Chart, Structured Text, etc.)
- Proficiency in standard programming languages (VBA, .NET, SQL) for HMI/SCADA systems
- Develop project execution plans, work breakdown structures, and associated budgets
- Task prioritization, scheduling, and ordering
- Time tracking and reporting
- Financial tracking and reporting
- Early problem identification, conflict management/resolution
- Lead and support a team, attend project status meetings
- Oversee daily operations and activities of projects up to $1M
- Ensure overall profitability of the project
- Expertise in PLC platforms (Rockwell Automation, Siemens, Modicon).
- Proficiency in HMI/SCADA systems (GE iFIX, Rockwell Automation FactoryTalk View, Ignition, Siemens).
- Profound knowledge of DCS platforms (Emerson DeltaV, Rockwell PlantPAx, etc.).
- Familiarity with electrical schematics, power distribution (<480VAC), control panels, and NEC references.
- Desired experience with AutoCAD.
- Leadership in providing control system solutions.
- Mentoring less experienced engineers.
- Proven track record in managing Life Science automation projects.
- Experience across all project phases (conceptual, design, testing, start-up, commissioning).
- Good understanding of S88 Batch processing.
- Familiarity with Life Science industry regulations (cGMP, 21 CFR Part 11, etc.).
- Knowledge of GAMP5, System and Software Development Life Cycles, validation.
- Proficiency in IT/OT networking.
- Extensive knowledge of automation protocols (HART, Foundation Fieldbus, I/O, Profibus, Ethernet I/P, OPC, Modbus TCP/IP, etc.).
- Experience with relational databases (SQL, Oracle, etc.).
- Exceptional technical writing and verbal communication skills.
- Professional references (subordinate, peer, manager) preferred.
- Ability to travel up to 25%.
