Pratt & Whitney's Mechanical Systems, Externals and Nacelles (MSEN) engineering module center is seeking an experienced and highly motivated individual to lead a team of structures engineers in performing analysis of military engine hardware. In this role, the Senior Manager will direct their team in technical execution of structural analysis activities, lead the resolution of structures top technical issues, manage team budget and performance, develop team proficiency, identify, and implement process improvement targets, and manage overall team wellbeing.
Key Responsibilities:
Owns the execution of both near term and long-term strategy.
Manage a team of structures engineers of varying experience levels. Work with the team members to create and implement employee development plans.
Chair discipline reviews and approving team's work for technical completeness, accuracy, and quality.
Establish and manage department budget.
Manage resources to ensure the team meets delivery commitments while managing unplanned work and shifting priorities.
Provide technical and professional coaching of team members.
Annually identify training targets aligned with individual proficiency development and in support of team member long term goals.
Ensure team's work product meets customer and P&W requirements.
Lead implementation and execution of CORE operating model.
Develop action plans and own execution based on team glint survey feedback.
Set team member goals, review progress, provide feedback, and hold performance reviews.
Contribute to a safe working environment through ensuring team completion of environmental health and safety (EH&S) training, ensure following of EH&S cardinal rules, identify any EH&S violations, and take corrective actions as required.
Support succession planning and team development efforts.
Provide a positive and equitable working environment emphasizing respect, ethics, safety, security, and quality.
Support cross discipline integrated product teams (IPT) for the creation of fielded and development engine hardware designs.
Lead MSEN wide special initiative teams.
Basic Qualifications:
Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical, Aerospace, or Civil Engineering.
10 years of prior Engineering experience, or an Advanced Degree in Engineering with minimum 7 years of Engineering experience
Demonstrated experience leading teams.
US Citizenship due to government contracts.
Travel up to 10%.
Must have the ability to obtain and maintain a government security clearance.
Must be able to work onsite at PW facility in East Hartford, Connecticut or West Palm Beach, Florida.
Preferred Qualifications:
Proficient in project management.
Expertise in Finite Element Analysis and associated software. packages, preferably ANSYS or Advanced Simulation.
Experience in data post processing of high-speed instrumentation.
Experience with Microsoft Office applications.
Excellent communication and presentation skills.
Strong interpersonal skills.
Excellent at promoting teamwork.
