Position Summary:

By offering your time and talent as a Public Health Project Coordinator, you can help build site capacity to deliver critical services in your community. Public Health Corps provides you with valuable, hands-on experience in public health, plus career coaching and support from public health experts. You provide the skills, dedication and time that our communities need.

We are currently recruiting for the 2023-24 program year with opportunities beginning in August, October or January. This is an AmeriCorps member position with Public Health Corps. Join an amazing cohort of Public Health Project Coordinators from all backgrounds and experiences.

What to Expect:
  • Help facilitate data collection and survey administration.
  • Engage community members in focus groups and public health conversations.
  • Advance health and racial equity initiatives.
  • Support contact tracing programs and implement COVID-19 education campaigns.
  • Participate in ongoing training and professional development.
  • Gain hands-on experience in public health while embedded in a local agency.
  • Share your experience with the wider community as a Public Health Corps ambassador.
Perks Package:

Serve as a Public Health Project Coordinator and receive a scalable perks package based on your time commitment of 40 or 25 hours per week.

40 hours/week perks:

  • A stipend of $1,100 paid every 2 weeks
    • $25,300 total for 1,700 hours of service starting in August 2023
    • $20,900 total for 1,200 hours of service starting in October 2023
    • $14,300 total for 900 hours of service starting in January 2024
  • Up to $6,895 for tuition or student loans*
    • $6,895 total for members beginning their service in August 2023
    • $4,826 total for members beginning their service in October 2023
    • $3,447 total for members beginning their service in January 2024
  • Federal student loan forbearance and interest repayment
  • Individual health insurance — Monthly premium 100% covered
  • Child care assistance — Based on family size and income

25 hours/week perks:

  • A stipend of $650 paid every 2 weeks
    • $14,300 total for 900 hours of service starting in August 2023
    • $11,700 total for 675 hours of service starting in October 2023
    • $7,800 total for 450 hours of service starting in January 2024
  • Up to $3,447 for tuition or student loans*
    • $3,447 total for members beginning their service in August 2023
    • $2,626 total for members beginning their service in October 2023
    • $1,824 total for members beginning their service in January 2024
  • Federal student loan forbearance and interest repayment
  • The Segal AmeriCorps Education Award can be used to pay tuition or repay qualified student loans. Individuals 55 at the start of their service term may gift their award to their child, grandchild, foster child or stepchild.
What it Takes:

Our Project Coordinators come from all walks of life. The most important qualification is a passion to take action for your community – and meet the following minimum qualifications. By the time they begin their service, our Project Coordinators are:

  • Dependable and have a history of good attendance
  • Able to manage projects
  • Able to set a pace and maintain a service schedule of 40, 35 or 25 hours per week, depending on the agreed upon hours commitment
  • Comfortable using Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel); competent completing internet searches and navigating resources online; and have experience with using e-mail regularly.
  • Fluent in English
  • 18 years of age or older with a high school diploma or equivalent
  • A citizen, national, or lawful permanent resident of the United States*
  • Able to successfully complete a background check
  • Applicants who have received deferred action for childhood arrivals (DACA) through the U.S. Department of Homeland Security are not eligible to serve as AmeriCorps members at this time.
