Director of Product Marketing
We’re looking for a strong leader to play a pivotal role in shaping how we deliver products to our brands and customers.
The Director of Product Marketing reports to the Senior Director of Product Marketing and is responsible for driving the overall strategy for a team of Product Marketing Managers and Associates. We are looking for an experienced, hands-on leader who can execute business objectives while growing and developing leaders and individual contributors.
You will partner with cross-functional teams to develop successful product launch strategies and work with PMMs to articulate market requirements, define and measure success, execute go-to-market plans, and champion Product Marketing throughout the organization. In partnership with Product Management, Data & Insights, Marketing, Communications and brand teams, you will develop a deep understanding of our customer needs, market landscape, and product features.
This role will require you to bring a combination of strategic thinking, motivational leadership, and operational excellence. You will proactively detect the largest challenges impacting the team’s execution and make decisions that resolve and manage dependencies, ensuring the team achieves organizational, department and personal goals. Initially, your focus will be on pragmatic, hands-on execution, putting in place key processes and strategies while coaching the team in parallel. To be effective, you must be collaborative, encouraging, strategic and flexible in your thinking. Ultimately, the right candidate will thrive in a fast-past, matrixed environment and be motivated by team successes.
What You’ll Do
Lead a team of product marketers responsible for driving product launches, research and discovery, sales enablement, and executing integrated strategies that increase demand, adoption and the overall success of a product
Build, manage, coach and support a team of marketers, including people managers, ensuring alignment between individual’s strengths and business needs
Develop full-funnel go-to-market strategies - including content, product experience, PR, brand, and customer marketing - to meet adoption KPIs
Orchestrate product marketing strategies and take steps to ensure successful implementation and execution by the team
Drive customer lifecycle journey mapping and best practices to influence engagement, retention, and upsell opportunities
Partner with Product Management and Data & Insights to define and measure success, forecast business impact, and drive continuous improvement
Identify what motivates each member of your team—whether that’s opportunities for growth or simple recognition—and use that knowledge to keep them enthusiastic about that work
Set realistic goals and develop a plan to reach them while adapting to changing circumstances and communicating their importance to your team and leadership
Identify the right team member to handle a specific task and ensure they have the knowledge and tools they need to get the job done
Level up your team by hosting workshops or providing training opportunities that engage the team while keeping the group moving forward
Set clear expectations that let employees know what standards are expected from them and provide regular feedback
Serve as a product marketing evangelist educating the Product team, cross-functional teams and brand teams on the value the Product Marketing team brings
Collaborate with our marketing organization on the overall strategic direction, positioning and messaging of our product portfolio
Understand the market to ensure there’s a product-market fit and we’re building a product or feature that fills an unmet need within our market
Hold a thorough understanding of our product portfolio
Proactively form strategies directed by metrics and data
Consult in highly ambiguous environments and collaborate through use of effective oral and written communication skills
Prioritize fairness and honesty, creating an environment of trust within your team
What You Bring
10 years of related experience in product marketing, particularly driving new product launches
Minimum 5 years of experience with team leadership, people management, cross-functional team leadership, team building, or team management
Track record of building partnerships with cross-functional teams (including product management) and shaping multi-year roadmaps and go to market strategies
A passion for leading, guiding and mentoring teams and individuals
Ability to make business-led decisions with confidence and effectively communicate the what/why to your team, functional leads and organization leadership
Demonstrated record of successfully leading large, complex product launches across multiple brands or verticals
Experience leading marketing strategy and driving scaled programs from concept through execution
Experience using insights and strategic thinking to build business cases that influence stakeholders
Ability to motivate diverse groups of people with different backgrounds and skill sets
Strong decision-making, conflict resolution, negotiation skills, and follow through
A sense of integrity and authenticity that builds a culture of trust and transparency where employees are encouraged to give honest feedback and share ideas
Fantastic communication and presentation skills with the ability to confidently present to executives, leadership and peers
A steady flow of communication between yourself and team members through an open-door policy and/or regular 1:1 conversations
Advanced understanding of branding, marketing, copywriting, communications and design
Ability to learn the company's products, rollout strategy, unique brand value propositions and the real estate industry in general
Highly data-driven with strength in deriving actionable insights from data and research
Comfortable working in a fast-paced, high-growth environment
Creative and innovative thinking with a willingness to take risks, fail fast, iterate and learn
Familiarity or experience in real estate sales/brokerage/franchise space a plus
