Working in the schools and in community venues, REAP provides students a window into their future; elevates student voice; empowers student leaders with a global mindset; develops innovation toward entrepreneurship; and engages students in cooperative management.
Most recently, REAP has been focusing on Northwest Oregon school communities with significant numbers of families in challenging economic circumstances, and non-English speaking families. Children of these families face the most challenge in negotiating school and life. REAP now attracts the commitment of more than 1,000 students each year. REAP forms partnerships with their schools, and with community organizations, public agencies, businesses, professional groups, and whole industries.
About this position
The Marketing Manager, working at REAP’s office in outer NE Portland, will have the primary responsibility to lead strategy and planning of all marketing initiatives (digital & traditional marketing), including email, search engine marketing, paid and social, Google display, YouTube, and other external advertising campaigns. This role is also responsible for tracking, reporting, and optimizing marketing performance across multiple channels and campaigns.
Ideally, the candidate will be comfortable working both independently and collaboratively within a small, close-knit team, and thrive in a fast-paced, deadline driven environment. The successful candidate must be able to communicate effectively with a diverse range of stakeholders.
Duties to be Performed
- Responsible for creating, implementing and measuring the success of a comprehensive marketing, communications and public relations program that will enhance the Organization’s brand image and position within the marketplace and the general public, and facilitate internal and external communications.
- Fulfill main marketing role and help spread a marketing culture within the organization
- Review of similar nonprofits (compare similar offerings to clients, any gaps unfulfilled in market)
- Strategizes, develops, and manages marketing and promotional activities including print, online, electronic media, and direct mail.
- Utilizes data and research to evaluate the effectiveness of marketing strategies.
- Develops and maintains effective working relationships with print and electronic media.
- Oversees and manages marketing program budget.
- Manages vendor contracts related to marketing priorities.
- Researches, coordinates, and implements marketing activities related to trade shows, college fairs, and other community events/activities.
- Ensures appropriate use of the REAP logo, lettering, colors, and standards of design for print and digital communications.
- Develop and oversee alumni and volunteer engagement initiatives.
- Responsible for creating original text and video content, managing posts and responding to followers as well as to be up-to-date with the latest digital technologies and social media trends.
- Design and implement social media strategy to align with business goals
- Support onboarding and training of new staff.
- Coordinate regular marketing committee meetings
- Partner with Executive staff & program management team on programmatic & administrative priorities.
Qualifications (Required)
- Bachelor’s degree in Marketing or any combination of work experience with management responsibilities.
- Solid knowledge of social media platforms
- Demonstrates skills in implementing organizational training and development programs.
- Proven effective interpersonal skills with the ability to interact with all levels and cultures of people.
- Solid knowledge of SEO, keyword research and Google Analytics
- Hands on experience in content management
- Exemplifies excellent presentation skills to include individual, small and large group formats.
- Demonstrates excellent writing skills to include punctuation and grammar.
- Computer skills to include MS Word, Canva, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook and Google Apps.
- Familiarity with web design (Word Press)
- Ability to analyze, interpret and summarize data, trends and statistics.
- Ability to prioritize, multi-task, and stay focused in a busy office environment.

The REAP staff works together in a distributed fashion, due to our program work taking place in school settings. REAP staff are flexible, enthusiastic, and committed to the mission, but may not see each other in the organization’s office as often as the staff of most groups. The person in this position will work in the office more than most other staff members, but needs to be relatively self-sufficient and a self-starter.
