Our post-doctoral, pre-licensed clinical provider will Participate as a member of multidisciplinary treatment team managing a case load of adults suffering from severe mental illness facing criminal charges. Duties include competency screenings, develop behavioral interventions and behavior plans conducts psychological testing in order to assist the patient in competency restoration. This position will also be an active member of the clinical team, providing staff education on psychological issues and working with the team to develop therapeutic interventions that address competency barriers. This position may be responsible for assigned treatment sessions and may have responsibilities for quality assurance monitoring.
Key Responsibilities:
- Consultation Reporting: Evaluates the mental status and briefly assesses patients at the request of the unit psychiatrists following a fairly traditional medical model. These experiences help interns to develop greater skill in assessing, diagnosing, and making treatment recommendations while strengthening their skills in consulting to other professionals.
- Group Treatment: Participates in group psychotherapy and psychoeducational or skills training groups including Dialectical Behavioral Therapy, Dual Diagnosis, Anger Management, Sexual Education, Smoking Cessation, Relapse Prevention, Cognitive- Behavioral Group for Depression, and Competency Restoration groups. May develop addition groups based on the on the intern’s interests.
- Individual Treatment: Conducts individual psychotherapy as is needed, particularly as individuals move toward discharge. Individual interventions may include crisis management, cognitive-behavioral interventions, supportive psychotherapy, and skills training.
- Specialized Behavioral Plans: Develops specialized behavioral plans to help the patient attain their goals by application of behavioral principles.
- Psychological Assessment: Conducts psychological assessments including personality, intelligence, cognitive screening, competence to proceed to trial, and forensic risk assessments
- Performance Improvement: Participates in activities that monitor and improve the quality of patient outcomes and services provided.
- Attends and successfully completes competency training on an annual basis.
- Actively contributes and receives feedback from multi-disciplinary team.

Qualifications & Requirements:
Education:
- Graduated with Clinical Psychology at an Accredited University with a Ph.D. or Psy.D
Experience:
- Skilled in organization, supervision, and state of the art treatment interventions.
