Responsibilities:
- Tax Planning and Advisory: Provide strategic tax planning advice to individuals, businesses, and organizations to minimize tax liabilities and maximize tax benefits. Develop tailored tax strategies based on clients' financial goals, transactions, and business activities.
- Transaction Structuring: Assist clients in structuring business transactions, mergers, acquisitions, and reorganizations to optimize tax efficiency and mitigate tax risks. Analyze the tax implications of proposed transactions and recommend structuring alternatives to achieve desired tax outcomes.
- Tax Compliance: Ensure clients' compliance with federal, state, and local tax laws and regulations. Prepare and review tax returns, including individual income tax returns, corporate tax returns, partnership returns, and estate and gift tax returns. File tax forms and disclosures as required by taxing authorities.
- Tax Controversy and Dispute Resolution: Represent clients in tax audits, examinations, and appeals before the Internal Revenue Service (IRS), state tax authorities, and administrative tribunals. Negotiate settlements and resolutions with taxing authorities to resolve tax disputes and controversies efficiently.
- Estate Planning and Wealth Transfer: Advise high-net-worth individuals and families on estate planning strategies to minimize estate taxes and preserve wealth for future generations. Draft wills, trusts, and other estate planning documents tailored to clients' specific needs and objectives.
- International Taxation: Provide guidance on international tax matters, including cross-border transactions, foreign investments, and compliance with foreign tax laws. Assist multinational corporations and expatriates in navigating complex international tax issues, such as transfer pricing and foreign tax credits.
- Tax Research and Analysis: Conduct comprehensive tax research and analysis on various tax issues, regulations, and rulings. Stay updated on changes in tax laws and regulations and assess their impact on clients' tax positions and strategies.
