What are the responsibilities and job description for the Recycling Sorter / Forklift Operator position at Recycling Industries, Inc.,?
Job Description
We are looking to hire a Recycling Sorter/ Forklift Equipment Operator position for our Recycling facility. Come join our diverse team. Lead, Supervisory, Forklift, Equipment Operators and Traffic positions are available. It all depends on you. We are looking for experience but will train the right person. What do we do here at Recycling Industries? The local garbage companies deliver the blue recycling bins to our facility to sort through and separate the recycling products for distribution to the recycling processing plants. Those blue bins are meant to be exclusively for recycling materials. However, garbage finds its way in those bins and this Sorter position is responsible to ensure our machines are free of debris and are capable to process the product.
We are a clean facility as much as we can be. However, if you are sensitive to any intermittent odors, then this might be the best job for you. It is the nature of the business to eliminate garbage from the recycling items, but sometimes garbage sneaks its way in to the facility.
If this isn’t the position for you, that is completely understandable. It is not for everyone. However, if you do not mind a little bit of dirt and some hard work in exchange for a great company to work for, then PLEASE submit your resume and our Recruiter will be calling.

Working with us is definitely not for everyone. We're on a mission to make working at a solid waste and recycling company fun in these challenging times, while at the same time improve the communities and customers we serve. This is no small feat, and will only be possible with the right kind of team members.
And we're not just looking for skills and experience. Having shared values is just as important.
Here are ours:
✅ Progress over perfection: Taking regular imperfect action towards your intended goals
✅ Be happy: Everything begins with gratitude. As Jon Kabat Zinn says - "if you're breathing, there's more right with you than wrong". We believe that happiness precedes results.
✅ Be wrong: Problems will NEVER EVER go away. New solutions even lead to new problems. But unless we can first see and admit that there's a problem, we can't even begin to solve it.
✅ Hungry to learn and grow: Staying still is just as bad as moving backwards. Staying curious and always seeking to learn and grow is the surest way to creating a big future.
✅ Discover over create: Why spend countless hours solving something that's already been solved?
✅ Manage systems over people: If there's a problem - first look at the system before blaming others. How could we fix the issue at the root by modifying or improving our systems?
✅ We serve: Why does a business exist in the first place? Customers give us money in exchange for us giving them a result - at the very heart of this is our ability to serve.
✅ Ownership Attitude: When you see a problem, own it. If it's not in your area of responsibility. Own it by letting the appropriate team member know
✅ Safety Matters: Keeping your eyes open for unsafe risks - both in behaviors and environments. Do your part by staying alert and bringing them to the team's attention.
Who this is NOT for:
❌ You don't like solving problems
❌ Growth and learning aren't a top priority for you
❌ You don't consider yourself to be resourceful
❌ You don't enjoy working with others
❌ Customer service isn't your strong-suit
If it looks like we might be a fit, and you're one of those weird aliens on a similar journey towards making this world a little bit better...then we encourage you to take the next steps and apply below!
Think you're a fit?
We need someone who is
- Resourceful and can read between the lines and figure stuff out in a pinch
- LOVES improving systems and making things better
- Has a proven track record of keeping “stuff” running efficiently
- Has a borderline obsessive knack for those little details to help ensure things don't slip through the cracks
