The Red Hat North America People (HR) team is looking for an Human Resources Manager to join our growing Field HR team in Toronto, Canada. In this role, you will act as the Country HR Lead for Canada and as a Site Lead capacity for the Toronto office. You will provide expertise and engage in the development of Canadian-specific HR programs through active partnership with leaders and associates as well as with global country manager peers and HR team Center of Excellence (CoE) associates to promote a broader understanding of implementing total rewards and talent attraction and retention strategies for Canadian Red Hatters.
What you will do
- Partner with global Benefits team to help broaden understanding of program offerings and impacts, championing enhancements to Canadian leaders and associates
- Partner with the Global Workplace Solutions (GWS) organization and Canadian leadership around Future of Work solutions as we continue to navigate COVID-19 requirements
- Partner closely with Employee Relations specialists to manage sensitive matters
- Partner with People Infrastructure Operations team to ensure prioritized resolution of country-based leader and associate issues
- Identify and use best practices to help the HR team better understand how to attract and retain talent in Canada
- Provide input, feedback, and suggestions to improve HR offerings in Canada, including benefits and leaves programs
- Provide input into change management plans, supporting the successful implementation of new initiatives and programs for Red Hatters in Canada
- Act a contact for managers in navigating through Red Hat HR processes, procedures, interpretation of policies, and employee relations issues
- Message the value and business impact of HR programs to leader and associate populations
- Advise Canadian leaders and associates around our total rewards and talent management philosophies and their application to guide quality decisions
- Build solid relationships with CoE partners to most effectively consult around implementing key programs within the business
- Use internal tools and other information sources to identify business trends and ensure that appropriate CoE solutions are in place
- Other duties as assigned, including potential support of manager enablement initiatives across Canada and the U.S.
What you will bring
- Previous experience as an HR business partner, HR generalist, business process analyst, operations manager, or in an HR support function capacity
- Knowledge of provincial employment laws pertaining to associate benefits and leaves
- Prior experience in employee relations or conflict resolution
- Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to influence through storytelling or with data
- Familiarity with Workday
- Confidence in working in ambiguous situations
- Comfort working under minimal supervision and owning and running with things in a remote environment
- Prior experience as an HR professional supporting Sales or Engineering teams is a big plus
- Verbal and written proficiency in French is a plus
