OPPORTUNITY AT A GLANCE: REDCOM EMS, a business unit of REDCOM Laboratories in Victor, NY is seeking to fill the role ofElectrical Mechanical Assembler. The Electronic/Mechanical Assembler works with other manufacturing employees on the manufacturing and installation of electronic subassemblies. This position works in a production environment in support of production and customer repairs.
Your responsibilities are to complete the assembly of electrical components in a safe and quality manner. Maintain electrical component and hardware accuracy and test all components manufactured. This position will require the ability to physically assemble electronic communications using written procedures and /or production prints. Inspection may be required as a part of this process. The ability to follow directions closely, pay close attention to detail and work with fine, small parts are critical. The best candidate will have some experience in PCB or electronic assembly, a track record of working safely and experience with soldering including a current certification.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Assembles electronic systems using hand tools and machines such as pliers, screwdrivers, wire cutters, crimping tools and E-prom programmers. Assembles units per written procedures or production prints. Assures high quality and reliability in end product and completes required paperwork. Makes enhancements (with supervisor's approval) to assure the finest quality in end product. Performs primary inspection on the assembled product to ensure cleanliness, quality, and reliability.
- Sets up and operates wave soldering and vapor degreasing equipment. Prepares PCBs for wave soldering. Performs wave soldering and vapor degreasing on circuit board assemblies in accordance with written process procedures.
- Tests and reports on solderability and heat as to their chemical effects on printed circuit board components and materials.
- Performs other duties as assigned or as required.
- Adhere to all safety requirements and procedures
KNOWLEDGE & SKILLS THAT ARE REQUIRED TO FULFILL THE ESSENTIALFUNCTIONS:
- High School Diploma, or GED Equivalent
- Effective teamwork and interpersonal skills
- Prior experience with soldering
- Professional attitude and demeanor; problem-solving and prioritization skills
KNOWLEDGE & SKILLS THAT ARE PREFERRED TO FULFILL THE ESSENTIALFUNCTIONS:
- Associate’s Degree, or 1-2 years work experience in a manufacturing environment
- Current Soldering Certification and IPC Certification
OTHER DUTIES:
- Ability to recommend and make necessary changes within manufacturing to fit growing business constraints.
SPECIAL WORKING CONDITIONS:
- Work is performed inside a manufacturing plant, which may include exposure to fluctuations in temperature and humidity, moving mechanical parts, risk of electrical shock, chemicals, fumes or airborne particles.
- Work shifts may vary between 6AM-7PM to account for any special demands
- Production environment is driven by customer delivery dates. There are times when a customer may have an urgent need and, if possible, we will work to help them in any way we can.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
- While performing the duties of this job, the employee may be required to, and for extended periods of time, stand, lift, carry, push, pull, reach, hear, have visual acuity, and have manual dexterity (use of fingers for fine activities) due to the nature of the complex array of equipment and products.
- The duties of this job require an individual to be able to freely move about the factory floor setting, as well as factory work stations.
- Must be able to lift and carry materials often, possibly as heavy as up to 50lbs in order to meet various work demands with material.
