What are the responsibilities and job description for the Fleet Shop Supervisor position at Reeb?
We are looking for a hands on individual with at least five years’ experience working as a high level diesel mechanic capable of performing their own work as well as assisting, coaching other mechanics with tough diagnostic problems. Supervises shop personnel, directs all maintenance functions and coordinates preventative and corrective maintenance activities for Reeb’s in house fleet.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
- Troubleshoot, diagnose and repair vehicles in a timely and professional manner.
- Use computer diagnostics, repair manuals, schematics, parts manuals to troubleshoot vehicles and make repairs
- Manage and work with all vendors
- Track, assign a PO, and manage all purchases
- Perform State and Federal inspections on all vehicles
- Maintain facility in an attractive, appropriate and safe manner
- Inventory and maintain specialty equipment and tools
- Must be able to evaluate, mentor, and develop maintenance mechanics
- Must be able to interview, hire and staff a fleet shop
- Must be able to work independently with minimum supervision
- Communicate all problems or concerns to Manager
- Manage all maintenance thru a CMMS program
- Responsible for shop inventories (Parts, fluids, etc.)
- Work closely with all logistics supervisors
Education: High School Graduate or General Education Degree (GED), Mechanic school program
Experience: Minimum 5 years experience in a leadership role
Computer Skills
Microsoft Word, Excel, E-mail, Fleet management system, payroll system
Computer diagnostics, Cummins insite, Quick Serve, Peterbilt (Davie), Allison Transmission, Volvo
Certificates & Licenses
Mechanic certificates in all phases of repair, CDL, State Inspection
Other Requirements
- Must be able to read and understand English
- Must be able to work with hand, pneumatic and power tools
- Must have own tools
- Fabrication and welding (Good to have)
- Good hand and eye coordination
- Ability to follow oral and written communication from management and work independently
