Director of Nursing

Cielo House is an innovative group of treatment centers for eating disorders with locations throughout the San Francisco Bay Area. We are seeking a Director of Nursing to join our outstanding team at our state-of-the-art treatment center in Moss Beach, CA. 

We offer comprehensive eating disorder treatment at various levels of care, providing treatment for individuals and families affected by eating disorders at all stages of the recovery process. We have locations in Moss Beach, Burlingame, and San Jose, as well a specialty program for Adolescents in San Jose. Unlike many other treatment environments, each of our programs is set in a comfortable, warm homelike setting, allowing clients to be themselves and feel a sense of safety and community when they are attending treatment.

Director of Nursing must have the ability to work in difficult client situations to oversee medical safety and wellness of clients under the direction of the Clinical Director and the Medical Director. The Director of Nursing must be able to participate in client meal groups and possess knowledge of appropriate nutrition for clients struggling with eating disorders.  Must have knowledge of first aid and emergency medical procedures.  Must have knowledge of standards of nursing practice, possess strong patient care skills, good organizational and record-keeping skills.  Must have the ability to work as part of a treatment team, knowledge of mental health issues that relate to disordered eating. Must be organized, detail-oriented and able to set firm boundaries with clients.

Responsibilities 

• Oversee Care Technicians as well as performing several of the functions of Care Techs  

• Conduct initial nursing intakes for new clients. 

• Inventory Client Belongings upon admission and discharge 

• Take client vitals when instructed 

• Adhere to Cielo House nursing care Protocols 

• Attend and facilitate supervision of Client Meal Groups 

• Supervise clients when not in groups, including monitoring of bathroom usage when indicated. 

• Clean/Disinfect showers after each client use 

• Participate in client activities where relevant, such as client walks/outings. 

• Oversee administration of medication in accordance with Cielo House Nursing Care Protocols 

• Advise Clinical Director, Medical Director, Psychiatrist of incidents with patients or other significant observations in accordance with Cielo House Nursing Care Protocols 

• Take notes of client status during designated shifts. 

• Transport clients to outside doctor’s appointments when necessary 

• Oversee the disposition of medications in circumstances when clients are discharged without medications being dispensed to them 

• Work with pharmacists to ensure Cielo House Nursing and Medication policies are upheld 

• Perform other tasks not specified in this description but substantially related to their job function as determined by Clinical Director or attending MD. 

Requirements 

• Experience in a medical/nursing setting and demonstrated ability to perform job tasks. 

• Must be a Registered Nurse with a valid California license in good standing. 

• Associates Degree or Higher in Nursing or related field. 

• Willing to split time between the Moss Beach and Los Altos location.
