What you will do
- Performs a variety of routine duties in all areas of Food and Nutrition Services. • Prepares food for serving as directed (i.e. washing and peeling vegetables, preparing sandwiches and salads, slicing desserts, etc.). • Serves food from cafeteria counter or on serving line. • Rearranges and replenishes items, as needed. • Delivers food and returns soiled containers to dishwashing area. • Delivers meal trays and nourishments to nursing areas and patients. • Picks-up and returns trays to kitchen. • Delivers and picks up menus from patients. • Cleans counters, tables, equipment, utensils and furniture. • Practices proper food handling procedures. • Covers, labels and stores food and supplies in accordance with sanitary standards and with established policies and procedures. • Fills requested catered event orders and provides delivery, set-up and retrieval of kitchen equipment. • Operates food preparation equipment such as vegetable peeler, toaster, grinder, chopper, etc. • Operates dishwashing equipment, as needed.
- Provides assistance with catered functions. • Prioritizes activities and schedules to meet deadlines of food preparation, delivery, set-up, service and clean-up. • Removes outdated usage. • Utilizes appropriate tables decorations and presentations.
- Performs storeroom activities, which includes monitoring or restocking pantry items, food and other supplies. • Maintains appropriate par levels. • Receives supplies and equipment and checks quality/quantity specifications for compliance with requisitioning. • Ensures requisitions are issued and entered. • Maintains storage area for efficient and effective utilization of space utilization and usage.
- Works effectively as a team member within department and with customers and hospital staff to provide quality service through communication, cooperation and collaboration. • Interacts and works collaboratively with patient/family/hospital staff in a customer responsive and courteous manner, in compliance with iRESPECT and Retail Care standards and promoting patient/customer satisfaction. • Assists personnel when needed by performing tasks to keep department operating at peak efficiency levels.
- Maintains required department records, reports and files. Adheres to established department policies, procedures, objectives, compliance/quality improvement with consideration given to risk management, infection control and patient safety practices.
- Maintains a clean, orderly and safe environment for patients and personnel. • Cleans and assists with care and maintenance of department equipment, utensils and furnishings and utilizes supplies in a cost effective manner. • Reports malfunction of equipment to supervisor. • Disposes of trash and garbage by transporting to disposal area.
- Maintains confidentiality in matters relating to patient/family, department and hospital information. Adheres to established department and organization policies (i.e. HIPAA, Confidentiality and Compliance Policies).
- Provides coverage for relief and absences within department. Demonstrates flexibility to work evenings, weekends and holidays to maintain coverage for food and nutrition services.
- Completes required continuous training and education, including, department specific requirements.
- Performs other duties as required.
Qualifications
- High School Diploma or equivalent work experience. Required
- At least 1 year experience Six (6) months experience in institutional food service setting Preferred
