MONITOR TECHNICIAN
JOB SUMMARY AND ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: Monitors cardiac rhythms of patients by continual observation of telemetry units in order to recognize, record, and report arrhythmias of patients according to established standards and practices.
JOB REQUIREMENTS:
EDUCATION: High school diploma or equivalent. Successful completion of a Telemetry Monitoring Course or documented on the job training. Qualified by education, training or experience to work with adult and/or geriatric patient as specialty assignment dictates.
EXPERIENCE: Twelve (12) months as Monitor Technician preferred. Exhibits knowledge of technical skills required to implement patient care and telemetry monitoring activities as demonstrated through practices, placement of telemetry leads, cardiac arrhythmia interpretation, and recognizing abnormal and technically inadequate results. Demonstrated interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate effectively/professionally with hospital staff, patients, family, visitors, and physicians under routine and stressful situations.
LICENSURE OR CERTIFICATION: Requires CPR Certification.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS: Sitting for prolonged periods; visual acuity for observation, monitoring and utilizing telemetry units; exposure to infectious agents. (May be further defined as "with assistance" or "without assistance").
