Surgery Scheduling/Physician Scribe
Regional Vascular and Vein Institute is a well-established, successful private practice consisting of a group of 4 vascular surgeons serving individuals throughout Stark and surrounding counties. We are looking for a committed professional to join our team and support our physicians in ensuring each patient is treated as an individual and receives the highest level of service while in our care.
Job Description:
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Assists physicians by placing orders into the electronic health record, scheduling tests, obtaining results, providing patient instruction, and sharing necessary information with other care providers/facilities according to HIPAA guidelines.
- Serves as the main resource to physicians for surgery scheduling.
- Coordinates the admission and transfer of patients.
- Communicates information to patients and families.
- Assists the physician by scribing and with essential patient care.
- Prepares and assembles medical record documentation/charts for physician(s).
- Enters the patient room with the physician during patient visits to capture and transcribe medical record documentation utilizing electronic medical record applications.
- Updates patient history, physical exam, and other pertinent health information the patient.
- Ensures medical record compliance by self-documentation attestation.
- Prepares and sends all documentation to the physician for review and approval via authentication of detailed data entry and facility-specific procedures.
- Enters medical records into and pulls medical records from available portals and EHRs.
- Coordinates and works with other team members to obtain needed authorizations, ensure continuity of care with other providers, and manage physicians’ schedules and calendars.
- Complies with hospital and medical facility policies, including HIPAA and OSHA.
- Performs other clerical duties and tasks to improve provider productivity and clinic workflow as assigned.
- All dictation/transcriptions must be in the chart, signed, and completed within 5 days.
Education and Experience:
- High school graduate.
- Preferred: College-level education including health or medical-related courses.
- Completion of a medical terminology course or qualifying experience.
Qualifications/Skills:
- Experience in the medical field.
- Knowledge of Medical Terminology.
- Electronic Medical Record Experience.
- Excellent customer service, organizational, and communication skills.
- Strong Record-keeping/management, visit documentation, and transcribing expertise.
