Job Description: At Regions, the Senior Credit Officer I position is accountable for the credit quality (past dues, NPA, Criticized assets, Net Losses, Exceptions, etc.), profitability and growth of the total business loan portfolio in the assigned Credit Officer’s applicable business reporting unit or segment. The Senior Credit Officer I is responsible for execution of sound risk management practices as part of the 2nd Line of Defense including communication of applicable information to maintain an environment of risk ownership and awareness. The position reports to a Corporate Bank Credit Division Manager or Senior Credit Officer. Primary Responsibilities Responsible for the overall creditworthiness of loan transactions within the assigned business reporting unit or segment Manages applicable credit exposure to ensure adherence to Region’s Risk Appetite Statement and to all asset quality, diversification, and exposure parameters Communicates and demonstrates sound risk management practices in order to maintain an environment of risk ownership and awareness Exhibits accountability for the quality and profitability (spread relative to risk) of the assigned business unit or segment Partners and consults with subject matter experts for leveraged lending, sponsor-backed and specialized industries loan transactions, as applicable Coordinates with multiple business unit constituents to improve efficiency, effectiveness, productivity and/or controls throughout the Credit/Underwriting process Serves as Policy Author for select policies under the purview of the respective Policy Executive, Policy Owner and Policy Editor, as applicable Provides input on revisions/amendments to existing credit reference guidance on standards, documentation requirements, and underwriting practices Serves as an additional trainer/mentor for Credit Products and Coverage teams for consistent application of sound underwriting practices Serves on ad hoc projects as a contributing member or project leader This position is exempt from timekeeping requirements under the Fair Labor Standards act and is not eligible for overtime pay. This position is incentive eligible.
