Job Title: Retail Store Manager
Normally Reports to: Sales Manager
Job Objective: Retail Store Manager is responsible for the proper and efficient operation of the store, within company policy, and supporting Retail Store Cashiers in ensuring the increase of profitability of the store.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities: In addition to the essential job functions described below, all associates will perform duties requested by management. Assigned responsibilities and duties may vary based upon location size and operation.
General Management
- Supporting and generating customer sales
- Maintaining store profitability
- Performing specific tasks assigned by Sales Manager
- Maintaining a store-inspection grade of at least 90% on the store-inspection report
- Giving all customers prompt and courteous service
- Staying familiar with company price book, operations manual, and bulletins
- Operating the register and related business machines
- Accurate and on-time handling of cash and reporting
- Checking in vendors and gas deliveries
- Keeping store stocked based on customer needs
- It is essential that the station manager be present and on time as there will be times that no other cashier or customer care is available.
- Preparing daily paperwork and making deposit in accordance with company guidelines
- Notifying Sales Manager timely of any severe or pervasive discrepancies in the operation results
- Accurately posting markups and markdowns, store use of merchandise, and bad-merchandise write-offs within the established guidelines
- Counting inventory as necessary
- Advising Sales Manager of any personnel situations or policy violations having an adverse effect on store operating performance

Leading and managing Retail Store Manager
- Hiring, training, coaching/disciplining, terminating Retail Store Cashiers with oversight by Sales Manager and/or HR
- Scheduling and approving work hours
- Conducting meetings as needed
- Overseeing and being responsible for controlling the inventory in the store
- Following company policy and overseeing of Retail Store Cashiers with regard to excessive cash in registers, change box, and safe security
- Managing of security access to building, drawers, safe, etc., as appropriate
- Protecting all company assets at all times
- Maintaining of coolers, shelves, displays; keeping product fronted
- Properly cleaning and maintaining equipment with Retail Store Cashiers’ support
- Using correct pricing as listed in the price book or grocery catalog for all merchandise
- Using plus-selling techniques as directed by Sales Manager

Keeping store, pumps, property cleaned and maintained, with Retail Store Cashiers’ support
- Windows, floors, shelving, counters

- Checking and maintaining refrigeration equipment for proper performance
- Maintaining pump receipt paper
- Setting up and supporting a weekly maintenance schedule for Retail Store Cashiers
- Immediately advising Sales Manager of any significant maintenance problems, arranging maintenance with guidance from Sales Manager
- Reading the tank monitor and manually checking the fuel inventory tanks using a stick, should the tank monitor become inoperable
- Ability to read, understand, and write the English language at a high school level, including the ability to hear spoken work
- Ability to perform arithmetical calculations at the eight-grade level in order to be able to make change, complete shift reports, and account for numbers of a variety of products during vendor check-in
- Have sufficient visual acuity to check identification.
- Ability to read and understand instructions for operating electronic cash registers and other equipment
- Ability to lift 50 pounds, carrying cases of soft drinks, juices, and other products
- Ability to physically stock shelves and coolers
- Ability to react to a fire by lifting a fire extinguisher weighing 20 pounds and moving it to the fire area
- Ability to tolerate exposure to gasoline fumes and cleaning products
- Ability to sweep and mop floors, dust shelves, and lift and carry out trash containers and place in an outside bin
- Ability to clean the parking lot and grounds surrounding the convenience store
- Ability to enter and work in a cooler at a temperature of 30 degrees and a freezer as low as 0 degrees up to 30 minutes at a time
- Ability to change out reader board messages and gas prices on the price signs and marquees
- Current, valid state food handlers permit
- Vision: minimum vision required to prevent injury from oneself and others
- Hearing: perceiving the nature of sounds with or without correction
- Talking: expressing or exchanging ideas by means of the spoken word
- Lifting small weighed objects constantly; 20 pound objects frequently and 20-50 pound objects occasionally
- Climbing ladders, stairs and ramps
- Balancing, pushing and pulling
- Crouching, kneeling, reaching and grasping objects
- Walking: move about inside the office and/or branch facilities as well as airport/travel needs
- Sit/Stand: Must be able to remain in a stationary position 50 percent of the time
