Home Therapies Certified Clinical Hemodialysis Technician
8 hour shifts Monday through Friday
JOB SUMMARY:
Performs Direct Patient Care responsibilities, clerical and administrative tasks and home program coordination associated with facility operations and RENEW policies and procedures as well as all regulatory agency guidelines.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Assists patients in and out of treatment area
- Assists patients in and out of chair (lifting required)
- Responsible for all aspects of patient care under the direction of the RN
- Is able to set up dialysis machines for dialysis treatments
- Supports home patients to learn to set up dialysis machines for dialysis treatments
- Is able to prepare bicarbonate, acid or peritoneal dianeal for dialysis treatments for traditional, NxStage, Quanta and peritoneal therapies
- Supports home patients to prepare bicarbonate, acid and or peritoneal dianeal
- Is able to tears down dialysis machine and or cycler after dialysis treatments
- Supports home patients to tear down dialysis machine and or cycler after dialysis treatments
- Is able to clean and disinfects machines
- Supports home patients to clean and disinfect machines/cyclers
- Is able to initiates dialysis treatments according to RENEW policy and procedure
- Supports home patients to initiate dialysis treatments according to RENEW policy and procedure
- Is able to operate the dialysis machine/cycler during treatments
- Supports home patients to operate the dialysis machine/cycler during treatments
- Is able to disinfect the dialysis machine/cycler in accordance with policy and procedure
- Supports home patients to disinfect machine/cycler in accordance with policy and procedure
- Is able to take patient temperatures, blood pressures, weights and collect any relevant data and report this to the RN as appropriate and./or document them in the patient record

- As appropriate notifies the nurse of any unusual events during dialysis
- Supports home patients to notify the nurse of any unusual events during dialysis
- Is able to utilize critical thinking and immediately report any significant changes in patient condition to the nurse
- Supports the home patient to utilize critical thinking and immediately report any significant changes in their condition to the nurse
- Is able to maintains confidentiality of patient and clinic information
- Supports home patients to maintain confidentiality of patient and clinic information
- Is able to assist with patient learning as directed by the Center Director, Clinical
Coordinator, or Nurse in Charge.
- Is able to conducts emergency evacuation process with patients on a quarterly basis
- Supports home patients in conducting evacuation learning quarterly
- Is able to conduct all expected safety checks on the machine and water treatment equipment as directed by policy and procedure and the Nurse in Charge

- Maintains standards of cleanliness including walls, floors, cabinets, and other physical plant areas as required
- Participate in QAPI meetings.
- Is able to initiate emergency care as per policy and procedure
- Supports home patients in learning emergency care actions
- Assists RN’s and LPN’s with other duties as assigned
- Responsible for all billing procedures in the facility and communicating with the billing group to resolve outstanding billing issues
- Assists with the admission of new patients
- Assists with clerical responsibilities including, but not limited to, completion of daily treatment log, assembling and preparing patient charts, thinning charts, auditing medical charts and maintaining confidentiality of patient information.
- Reviews weekly treatment log for accuracy and completeness
- Emails appropriate billing information to billing and corporate offices
- Reviews medical records and personnel records for completeness and notifies Center
- Prepares all lab draw supplies, enters data in ASCEND as appropriate
- Assists with inventory process as assigned by the Center Director
- Assists with the ordering process as assigned by the Center Director

- Ensures accurate and complete medical records are compiled and maintained accordance with RENEW policy and procedure
- Assists in recording and tracking vaccines and other shots as required

REPORTS TO:
Nurse in Charge (if applicable), Clinical Coordinator (if applicable) and Center Director.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
High school diploma or equivalent.
Current Patient Care Technician Certification required
Certification in C.P.R. required
Medical Experience preferred.
Medical Terminology experience preferred.
Telephone, fax and computer skills required
Experience with general public preferred
Job Types: Full-time, Part-time, Per diem
Pay: $19.00 - $22.00 per hour
