- Provide leadership in working to improve access and successful educational outcomes for diverse student populations especially underrepresented and underserved student populations.
- Provide management and leadership of the Testing Center, including supervising staff, staff evaluations, budget management, and monthly reporting. The manager will build a collaborative team environment and ensure the Testing Center is a welcoming environment for all students and testers.
- Manage and maintain testing schedule, policies and procedures of third party testing companies, provide timely communication to all relevant campus parties as well as outside testing companies.
- Manage all accommodated DRS testing with direction and in collaboration with the Director of Disability Services.
- Work in collaboration with other services in Educational Support Services which includes Disability Resource Services, Veterans Services, and Re-Entry Services to provide comprehensive and supportive services.
- Serve as Test Administrator for all offered tests including GED, Accuplacer, Pearson Vue exams, CASAS, TEAS and additional exams.
- Serve as a campus and division leader on testing policies and procedures, including implementation of new testing platforms; communicate policies and procedures professionally and effectively, both orally and in writing.
- Develop and maintain collaborative relationships with instructional faculty and deans.
- Maintain regular attendance and punctuality.
- Perform other related tasks as assigned.
- Demonstrated experience or participation in institutional programs with persons from diverse backgrounds such as sexual orientation, racial, ethnic, religious, linguistic, gender, age, socio-economic, physical and learning abilities, and a commitment to an inclusive and equitable working / learning environment.
- Bachelor’s degree and/or 3 years of progressively responsible related work experience.
- Experience supervising staff.
- Experience in and ability to solve challenging situations confidently and creatively as they arise.
- Ability to prioritize deadlines and delegate tasks to staff.
- Expert knowledge of Microsoft Suite, ability to learn and use new software, and understanding of current testing technologies.
- Ability to work collaboratively across campus, and communicate effectively with other campus staff and faculty.
- Understanding of confidentiality and awareness of FERPA.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision; capable of making independent judgments and taking action with limited direction.
- Strong organization and attention to detail, with ability to multi-task; strong problem solving skills.
- Strong customer service skills, including experience providing customer service to multi-language speakers.
- Proven ability to provide leadership to staff.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including through email, on the phone and in person.
- Experience working in a Testing Center in an educational setting preferred.
- Experience with or knowledge of the disability community, adaptive technology, and the laws that govern disability accommodations preferred.
- Ability to represent the college in a positive and professional manner, while using tact, discretion and courtesy.
- Ability to speak a regionally top spoken language other than English is preferred (Spanish, Vietnamese, Russian, Somali, Chinese).
SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS, LICENSES AND CERTIFICATIONS:
- Current certification as PearsonVue Certified Test Administrator or ability to obtain within 2 weeks of start of employment.
- Current CASAS eTest Online Proctor Certification or ability to obtain within 2 weeks of start of employment.
Work hours occur during business hours, with occasional evening/ weekend work required. Physical tasks include- standing or sitting for long periods, use of a computer, use of a phone, may involve crouching, bending or stretching as needed.
Renton Technical College requires employees to be vaccinated for COVID-19. A candidate will not be asked to report their vaccination status unless they are hired by the college. If a candidate chosen for hiring is not fully vaccinated from COVID-19 and plans to submit a medical or religious exemption to this employment condition, the hiring process will be suspended until a decision has been made regarding any exemption application which is submitted.
