What are the responsibilities and job description for the Forklift Operator position at Repower South Berkeley?
Summary: Under the direction of the Shift Supervisor, the Forklift Operator position moves commodity bales, loads trucks, and assist the Operations team in the cleaning of the plant. This position may need to fill in on different jobs as needed.
This is for 2nd shift: Monday - Friday from 12:30pm - 9:00pm
Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following
- Complete forklift inspection at beginning of shift
- Inspect and clean forklift throughout the shift
- Operate forklift in safe manner
- Be aware of pedestrian traffic
- Engage horn while coming through doors and around corners
- Monitor and empty 6-7 hoppers
- Blow down/sweep areas throughout shift
- Load/unload incoming trucks
- Maintain warehouse cleanliness
- Stage and sort commodities in warehouse
- Pick off-spec out of commodity bales
- Label and document commodity bales
- Help balers with cleaning and maintenance on machines
- Check for faulty and leaking propane tanks
- Breakdown and rerun partial commodity bales
- Help other forklift operators during down time
- Ensure safety chains and barricades are in place
- Check for safety hazards while riding through plant
- Assist in other parts of plant as needed
- May be assigned other duties dependent upon the needs of the company
Experience Required:
Must have prior forklift experience in a warehouse or industrial setting.

- While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently exposed to work near moving mechanical parts. The employee is occasionally exposed to outdoor weather conditions.
- The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate (80-90 decibels)
Availability of Hours:
Will be required to work overtime and weekends as production, maintenance, and housekeeping dictates.
