Summary:
Responsible for assisting in developing the site delivery schedule, execution plan for receiving, offload, staging, and material management. The Materials manager will resolve daily issues involved during the Materials management of solar the generation project.
The Materials Manager manages all site receiving, offload, staging activities and supervises all Material Management field personnel as required to successfully support to complete the solar project on schedule and within budget. The Materials Manager works with the Discipline Superintendents to assure a cohesive working environment for the receiving and distribution of the necessary materials to the proper discipline. The Materials Manager works diligently to build a safe, high quality, profitable solar project.
Requirements:
- Leads by example to show that safety is the most important function, ensuring that all employees follow safe practices while working.
- Accountable to continually reinforce safe behaviors and correct “at risk” behaviors.
- Ensures Job Hazard Analysis (JHA’s) occurs before scopes of work commence.
- Adheres to and ensures all site team members understand standard operating procedures.
- Ensures new hires receive job- and task-specific training prior to work commencing.
- Leads and support the site team in technical, quality and safety, utilizing systems in place.
- Ensures company employees and contractors are adhering to the company safety policy.
- Promotes job site safety, encourages safe work practices, and rectifies job site hazards immediately.
- Provides excellence in the management and delivery of logistics for the project
- Maintains positive relationships with customers, contractors, suppliers, and other employees.
- Schedules and ensures appropriate staffing for daily material management activities with employees.
- Identifies potential schedule changes, workflow, and staffing issues due to weather and delivery delays
- Maintains material delivery schedule, identifies upcoming issues, and solves problems.
- Understands the project plans and specifications
- Ensure site prep work is complete in areas to support logistics and material deliveries.
- Inputs into the logistics execution of overall construction plan.
- Directs, guides, and coaches material handling craft to ensure activities on site are understood and following established processes through quantity and quality checks.
- Follows processes for systems and communication lines on site and ensure implementation is consistent.
- Fosters a culture of continuous improvement.
- Ensures that project is utilizing Safety Management Systems (SMS), Quality Managements Systems (QMS), Environmental Management Systems (EMS) and technical procedures.
- Identifies and mitigates potential employee relations issues.
- Manages and supports employee development and growth.
- Provides regular and direct feedback on performance and goal progress.
- Assist in coordination and execution of all material management activities.
- Directs logistics/materials field personnel to achieve completion of the project on schedule, within budget, with quality workmanship that conforms to original plans and specifications.
- Promotes job site safety, encourages safe work practices, and rectifies job site hazards immediately.
- Assist in coordination of material management functions including scheduling of any required deliveries.
- Identifies, deploys, and manages a high-performing team needed to accomplish the solar business objectives.
- Provides a positive and engaging work environment.
- Ensure quality control program is followed to ensure processes are implemented according to the design of the materials provided for the project and are consistent.
- Communicates any deficiencies with materials to Project Superintendent and Quality manager to assure that proper NCR documentation is followed
- Maintains an organized job site, including in the onsite construction office.
- Manages QA for mechanical construction.
- Manages supplier contracts to ensure compliance.
- Manages the mechanical material on site.
- Manages the electrical materials on site
- Manages Safety of material management crews to the highest level.
Qualifications:
- At least 3-5 years’ experience working in a solar materials management environment
- High School Diploma, GED or equivalent.
- Organization: Utilizes strong organizational skills.
- Communication: Displays strong written and oral communication skills and employs effective listening skills.
- Problem Solving: Analyzes problems and makes sound decisions in a timely manner based on objectives, risks, implications and costs.
- Interpersonal Skills: Tactful and mature demeanor with well developed
- Interpersonal skills including the ability to work well with diverse personalities
Anticipated base salary range: $85,000- $125,000
The final agreed-upon compensation is based on individual education, qualifications, experience, and work location. This position is bonus eligible.
