SUMMARY:

RTI Surgical is global, industry-leading private label OEM with expertise in allograft, xenograft and synthetic-based implants. RTI began operations in 1998 when it spun off from the University of Florida Tissue Bank in 1998 with the goal of expanding the gift of tissue donation by pioneering tissue-based innovations that promote natural healing. Today, through integrated partnerships with customers, RTI develops and delivers restorative solutions to physicians and their patients. 

 

As a Private Label Original Equipment Manufacturer (PLOEM) partner, RTI provides comprehensive turn-key services for development and product life cycle management in support of patients and leading medical technology companies. RTI’s implants are used in multiple surgical applications including dental, spine, sports medicine, plastic and reconstructive surgery, urology/urogynecology and trauma.

POSITION SUMMARY:

This position will be responsible for the overall performance of assigned shift(s) and employees within; including laboratory output (i.e., testing results/reports), compliance, driving lean initiatives and achieving set metrics.  The Supervisor will oversee their employees inside the laboratory and ensure adherence to company policy and procedures.  This position will be critical in success of the department and will help RTI Surgical maximize the number of patients served while maintaining a high level of quality and safety. 

 

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Maintains accurate records of all specimens received or sent out of the laboratory. 
  • Monitors status of pending tests.  
  • Reviews worksheets and completed test reports for accuracy. 
  • Assists in maintaining files of all testing performed in the laboratory. 
  • Makes determinations as to the acceptability of specimens and completes appropriate Specimen Rejection forms and/or Revision Request forms when necessary.    
  • Performs quality control and quality assurance on equipment and reagents on a routine basis according to established protocols. 
  • Documents quality control and quality assurance procedures.  
  • Performs moderately and highly complex testing without supervision, in an accurate and timely manner in the fields of Microbiology, Serology and Immunohematology.  
  • Supports/backs up Triage and other analytical testing as needed. 
  • Performs periodic maintenance on laboratory equipment. 
  • Troubleshoots problems of equipment, assays, and helps document non-conformance/ out of specification/ CAPA evaluations.  
  • Maintains accurate and complete records of maintenance performed.  
  • Enters and reports results in an accurate, timely, and confidential manner.  
  • Maintains inventory levels and monitors supplies.  Other duties as required.

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in a Life Science topic preferred
  • Experience working in a Microbiology Lab preferred
  • Licensed as a Medical Technologist by the State of Florida preferred. 
  • Minimum one year experience writing technical documents preferred.
