What are the responsibilities and job description for the RN Educator position at Revolutionary Education Center?
The RN Instructor provides complex support by serving as a role model for faculty and support for the Executive Director of Education. The person in this position is responsible for managing and working directly with full time and adjunct faculty, the students and the general public. The position requires attention to detail, time management skill, flexibility, good organizational and follow-through skills and knowledge of Revolutionary Education’s Nursing Programs.. Administrative and clerical duties as assigned.
Qualifications
(1) Graduation from an approved school of professional nursing.
(2) Minimum one-year CONTINIOUS employment in a long term care facility
(3) Current registration as a professional nurse in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania.
(4) Preferably, an Associate degree, preferably in nursing, with preferred additional preparation for teaching appropriate to the teaching of Practical nursing and Nursing Assistant Program.
(5) Experience and skill in the practice of nursing.
(6) Nursing experience involving direct patient care or teaching experience within 2 years of employment. Faculty and instructors shall give evidence of maintaining expertness in clinical and functional areas of responsibility.
(7) TTE Certification.
(8) Excellent computer and communication skills.
General Duties
· Along with the Executive Director of Education, oversees the assessment planning, implementation, and evaluation of the nursing programs.
· Responsible for assuring regulatory compliance with state and federal guidelines and adherence to the philosophy and mission of Revolutionary Education Center.
· Evaluates and provides training as needed for clinical practice issues.
· Ensure that all quizzes, tests and instructional materials are relevant to the curriculum.
· Review curriculum annually and revise as needed to keep current.
· Assists with the planning, development and implementing the educational curriculum for nursing programs to meet federal state requirements.
· Assists with resolving student and staff issues.
· Administrative/clerical duties as assigned.
· Assists with all assigned clinical duties.
General Teaching Duties
· Develop and keep up to date all course syllabi.
· Submit syllabi to Program Administrator
· Submit end of course assessment forms to the Lead RN Nurse Educator.
· Carry out teaching plan. Demonstrate accepted methods of nursing care.
· Submit book and class supply list to Exec. Director for approval prior to each semester.
· Prepare and photocopy unit and final exams for each course.
· Prepare and copy supplemental instruction handouts for each course.
· Keep on file student’s exams and graded material for one year.
· Keep on file student attendance records indefinitely.
· Submit mid-term and final grades to Program Coordinator at specified times.
· Monitor student progression and provide recommendations as necessary.
· Utilize technology available in the classroom.
· Render individual assistance to student when needed.
· Advise and counsel students.
· Assist with all student record maintenance.
Practical Nursing Teaching Duties
· Maintain current unencumbered license as a Licensed Nurse in the state of Pennsylvania
· Follow curriculum guidelines as approved by the Pennsylvania State Board of Nursing
· Instruct students in Nursing theory
· Assist with clinical instruction
· Develop lesson plans with guidance of the NCLEX/NATCEP Practical Nursing test plan
· Keep up to date with NCLEX/NATCEP changes
· Keep supplies for classes up to date
· Uphold classroom and clinical policies
· Assist with orientation of students
· Plan weekly schedule in subject taught.
· Administer ATI/CNA exams after completion of designated courses
· Supervise student organization
· Maintain CEU’s in area of teaching
· Maintain communication log
· Assist with classroom and lab schedule planning
· Evaluate skill performances
· Evaluate and record care plans
· Assist students in all areas of skills.
Clinical Duties
· Maintain BCLS Certification.
· Maintain current and up to date standard of care.
· Maintain knowledge of Revolutionary Education Center’s clinical policies.
· Assign patients for students at level of learning experience and according to schedule.
· Coordinate experiences with facility personnel.
· Familiarize students with facility policies.
· Attend all orientation classes with students.
· Assist with simulation lab check offs as scheduled.
· Supervise students during patient care and all clinical assignments.
· Evaluate and monitor students for procedures; give instruction as needed.
· Assist students with documentation.
· Arrange and plan pre and post conference.
· Complete clinical evaluation of student, using coordinating guidelines for the evaluation tool.
· Serve on Revolutionary Education Center’s Practical Nursing advisory board and attend annual meetings
· Follow directives from Executive Director/RN Nurse Educator
