At the intersection of real estate and technology, Rex is a startup incubator continuing to launch companies within our ecosystem which are focused on PropertyTech, FinTech, and InsuranceTech. We are looking for a Media & Communications Director to develop, drive and execute strategies that facilitate awareness and engagement of Peter Rex and the Rex ecosystem of companies in Austin, TX.  


Reporting to the President of Media, you will be the multi-skilled talent that thrives in a strategic role that requires a combination of research, execution, and a deep attention to detail. You are high character, ambitious, and have an extreme bias to action in bringing powerful insights and ideas to life across multiple work streams. 

You are more than comfortable in high-autonomy situations and you think long-term: you are most excited at the prospect of building a company that will outlive us all. 

You have a strong ability to manage and be self-directed. You’re more than capable of handling a wide range of duties, including overseeing all media strategy, executing on multifaceted communication plans, and building and maintaining strong alliances in the business, political, and media world. You will spearhead the building and executing of state and national outreach plans, and foster continued communication both internally and externally.  

We are seeking a long-term partnership which will include working alongside key leadership in our ecosystem of companies, including significant exposure to sensitive and confidential information.

What you’ll do: 

  • Developing and executing comprehensive business & political outreach strategy to increase affinity, engagement and traffic across the Rex ecosystem of companies 
  • Working cross-functionally with the Rex media & legal teams to increase company awareness on the city, state, and federal level 
  • Create, implement and manage a strategic communications vision for Rex 

 What you offer: 

  • Bachelor’s degree from 4-year university 
  • 5-7 years of experience in government relations, public relations, public policy, or campaign management 
  • Verifiable success in running political and/or brand campaigns 
  • Ability to organize and understand a large network of relationships, personal and professional; manage relationships with partners, business connections, investors, and media. 
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced organization 
  • Extreme bias to execute 
  • Excellent communication & organizational skills 
  • Willingness to relocate to Austin
